freqport FreqInOut FO1

I've only had this for a week but I'm already grateful I got it. The unit seems well built and it's smaller than I expected, the setup is pain free and it's been really reliable so far.
I already owned a Radial EXTC which I used to process audio from my DAW through my guitar pedals and it's great, but the FreqInOut makes the whole thing a lot easier, without taking inputs or outputs from the sound card, but actually adding 4 line ins and 4 line outs. The plug in is great and the fact that it takes care of the latency compensation is a godsend. Now I can also make any pedal mid/side which is great.
I have it hooked up to my patch bay, so I have every connection at the front so it's super easy for me now to just try out pedals and any other outboard gear I have. It's definitely adding a lot of flexibility to my setup and I wonder how nothing like this existed before!
The possibility of adding and saving picture of the settings with the project is definitely a great touch, I only tried it once so far and it seemed ok. Of course, you can only know the visible settings, any hidden functions are on you to write down and keep track of, if needed, but it's a good feature for sure.
It's been only a week and it'll take a bit more testing of course, but I'm already excited to be using a lot more of my pedals in my productions from now on.

Wir betreiben insgesamt sechs Tonstudios. Vier davon sind ausschließlich mit Apollo Twin Duo Interfaces ausgestattet, die anderen Studios verfügen über größere Apollo X8 Modelle mit ausreichenden Ein- und Ausgängen. In letzter Zeit erreichten uns jedoch immer häufiger Anfragen, zusätzliches Outboard oder Synthesizer in den Studios mit Apollo Twin Duo einzubinden. Da diese Interfaces lediglich über einen ADAT-Eingang, jedoch keinen ADAT-Ausgang verfügen, war eine Erweiterung bisher nicht möglich.
Während unserer Recherche stießen wir auf den freqport FreqInOut FO1. Die technischen Daten und das Konzept klangen vielversprechend, sodass wir das Gerät kurzerhand bestellten – und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht.
Schon beim Auspacken fiel uns die hochwertige Verpackung auf: alles sehr sicher und ordentlich evrpackt. Das Gerät selbst ist kompakt, robust, handlich und überzeugt durch seine hochwertige Verarbeitung. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Bus-Powered-Funktion, somit sparen wir uns lästige Stromkabel.
Die Installation verlief schnell und unkompliziert. Nach dem Anschluss und der Softwareinstallation haben wir zunächst einen Synthesizer und einen Stereo-Kompressor getestet und das Gerät in unser Setup eingebunden. So konnten wir externes Outboard-Equipment integrieren, ohne zusätzliche Ein- oder Ausgänge unseres Interfaces beanspruchen zu müssen. Die Klangqualität der Wandler hat uns ebenfalls positiv überrascht – sie ist wirklich hervorragend.
Nach mehrtägigen Tests sind wir vollkommen überzeugt. Mittlerweile setzen wir den FreqInOut FO1 sogar bei mobilen Sessions ein, beispielsweise wenn für eine mobile Mixing-Session analoges Outboard eingebunden werden soll. Egal ob Mastering-Kompressor, einzelne Analog-Synthesizer oder wie in unserem Fall eine Maschine und ein Korg-Keyboard – alles ließ sich problemlos und klanglich einwandfrei integrieren.
Wir sind wirklich begeistert von diesem Gerät. Von uns gibt es volle Sterne und eine klare Weiterempfehlung.
