Next-gen mobile production studio

With the Rodecaster Pro II, Rode presents the second generation of its mobile production studio. Building on the success of its predecessor, it offers numerous new functions: For example, this model now has four combo jacks, which can be used to connect not only microphones but also instruments such as electric guitars. Phone calls can also be integrated into the current broadcast as wireless signals via Bluetooth. The two USB-C jacks are also a new addition, too; they can be used to connect two computers, or indeed two smartphones. In addition, data can also be stored on a SD card (sold separately). Moreover, there are eight pads for triggering sounds and fade-ins. And thanks to its four headphone outputs, up to four participants' volume levels can be controlled individually, with colour-coded dials and faders providing an instantly intuitive interface. The Rodecaster Pro II is quite simply an all-in-one solution perfectly specialised for podcasts and streaming.

Intuitive and customised operation

Under the bonnet are four low-noise Revolution preamps, which enable an amplification of up to 76dB. All channels can be supplied separately with phantom power and also have numerous processing options: Compressor, de-esser, noise gate, and a low-cut filter ensure a usable signal in any situation, and the APHEX effects give voices a powerful "radio sound". For telephone interviews, the Rodecaster Pro II can be connected to a mobile phone via Bluetooth. A total of six out of nine channels can be controlled simultaneously. A fader for the volume, a solo button, and a mute button are provided for just this purpose. There are also eight pads with bank switching that can be assigned any function. Users can easily navigate through these extensive functions via the Rodecaster's 5.5" touchscreen with visual feedback.

Podcasts in studio quality

The target group that Rode wants to address with the Rodecaster Pro II is clear: The entire package is tailored to podcasters. But anyone else who wants to record up to four speakers – or musical instruments, or any other signal sources – will be well served by the Rodecaster Pro II as well. Four headphone outputs are available for a group of speakers – or for providing an entire band with monitoring input. Mix minus, ducking, and auto monitor mute are features are more usually found in expensive broadcast consoles, and as such the Rode Rodecaster Pro II is also suitable for producing radio reports and interviews. Emulations of professional audio hardware provide studio-quality sound; these include the Aural Exciter, Big Bottom, Compellor, Master Compressor, and Leveller effects. The eight sound pads for playing jingles, ads, and other prerecorded segments round off the package.

About Rode

Founded in Sydney, Australia in 1990, Rode is a specialist in high-quality studio microphones. With its very first in-house, completely Australian-built model, the NT2 large-diaphragm microphone, the company created a classic which is still produced in its current and enhanced version, the NT2-A. An extensive range of studio and live microphones has also been added, regularly updated, and expanded over the years. Professional podcasts in seconds

The intuitive VoxLab processing editor allows podcasters and other users to load Rode's own proprietary presets, offering that special radio sound for even faster and more efficient podcast production. Customisation of the sound is also possible thanks to the extensive effects package: With eight banks for a total of 64 assignable functions, the smart pads aren't just used to activate effects at the touch of a button, but also control the parameters of the internal mixer, as well as playing drops, bumpers, and other inserts. Thanks to the great variety of connections on the back of the unit, the Rode Rodecaster Pro II can be fully integrated into any setup – from quick and easy mobile use with any standard SD card and a pair of smartphones all the way to full integration into a modern radio studio.

Wow, wat zit dit apparaat goed in elkaar! Ik gebruik het voor zoom lessen en kan er echt alles mee doen dat ik wil. Het is echt een verbetering op de eerste rodecaster, die ik hiervoor gebruikte. Rode kennende zullen er door middel van firmware updates nog vele functies toegevoegd gaan worden. Ik kan het apparaat niet anders dan aanrader.

Good Product But has Drawbacks

Having been a rode procaster user for several years i couldnt wait for this item and as soon as it arrived , i was very impressed, however after several months of use, the desk started doing weird things after a software update. the desk would lose all its setting after a power cut and then just started crashing for no reason, only when the mic was live which is still happening and now wont update the firmware at all.
A shame as i will have to buy another desk to replace this one as i dont have a spare, but seriously tempted not to buy rode as a result
