The MB 7 Beta from Thomann's in-house brand the t.bone is a dynamic broadcast microphone with a cardioid polar pattern that delivers a level of sound quality that belies its affordable price. The mic features an integrated pop filter that suppresses unwanted plosive sounds, while its effective shielding also prevents the intrusion of interference from other electrical devices, so users can simply get to recording, without worrying about technical problems.

Optimised for loud voices

According to the manufacturer's datasheet, the the t.bone MB 7 Beta covers a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz with a boost at 12kHz. While the latter might lead users to expect a very treble-heavy response from the MB 7 Beta, the sound is pleasantly full and has plenty of presence, particularly when dealing with voices. The microphone's sensitivity of 1.41mV/Pa is typical for a dynamic microphone, in contrast to which its output impedance of 320 ohms is slightly higher than that of most comparable models, but this does not have any negative impact on the results in practice.

The t.bone MB 7 Beta comes equipped with a typical broadcast-style bracket mounting, allowing it to be suspended from mic stands and boom arms, and despite its affordable price, this microphone is anything but "cheap": On the contrary, the professional-level sound it delivers for speech and vocals makes it a legitimate yet budget-friendly alternative to other dynamic microphones, whether it's being used for broadcasting, podcasting, or in the recording studio. Geen geruis op de achtergrond, was wel in mono maar dat is makkelijk te verhelpen. Voor de rest perfect!

Contrary to what the name suggests, this microphone is NOT a worthy replacement for a Shure SM-7B. But, you might find other uses for it.

The microphone arrived in perfect order, and looks pretty good. It was a bit smaller than what I expected, but that was just my own perception.
It is very sensitive to handling noise and even feels a bit fragile.

It may not be the best dynamic microphone in the t.Bone-range, but it does have it's use. I haven't tried it on any instruments yet, but somehow I feel like it could be more useful there than for voice. Get an MB-85 Beta or a MB-75 Beta for voice.

A good alternative could be the T.Bone BC-500 (that one is a lot more like an SM-7)
