The Lewitt DTP 340 TT is a compact supercardioid dynamic microphone optimised for toms, but will perform equally well on snares, percussion instruments, and guitar cabinets. Its short, durable build length (measuring just 94mm) and sturdy wire mesh provide excellent protection, facilitating close-miking for detailed and impactful recordings. The optimised frequency response ensures that the full dynamic range of the tom is captured with precision, while the supercardioid pattern offers excellent feedback resistance and minimises off-axis noise. The robust zinc alloy housing ensures durability in demanding live or studio environments, and the supplied accessories - which include a rim mount, a mic clip, and a leather storage pouch - allow for a quick and easy setup.

The DTP 340 TT's frequency response has been meticulously tailored to capture the nuances and dynamic range of toms and other percussion instruments. A slight boost between 80Hz and 200Hz enhances body and depth, and additional peaks between 3kHz and 10kHz accentuate attack and transient details, which are captured with remarkable clarity. The supercardioid polar pattern ensures a focused sound capture, effectively rejecting bleed from nearby sources -ideal for close-miking drums. A sturdy internal suspension protects the capsule from mechanical vibrations, and the reinforced mesh grille provides decent protection against accidental stick hits, ensuring long-term durability and performance. Sounds good but not ergonomic

I've only used the mic for 2 shows so these are more like initial thoughts.

The mic sounds good, it's nothing exceptional but it works for toms and is comparable to the Sennheiser E604 which I believe is industry standard. It has a scooped sound, so I'm not sure it would be suitable as an all-rounder dynamic.

The issue I have is with the mic clip, in my opinion it's far too long. It doesn't matter on a mic stand, but if you want to use the included drum mount (or a different mount, I tried a few) you'll need 8 inches clearance above the drum skin. For the drummers I work with this is far too much as it interferes with cymbal placement, and a standard clip won't fit the mic so I don't know how to solve this. For comparison, an SM57 on the same mount needs 5" clearance, E604 requires around 4".

I purchased 2 of these.
Very punchy sound, the clamps that come with the mic are fine but if you like isolating your microphones from vibrations then you better use a stand.
These Microphones are very good for rock
