This bass combines an okoumé body with a mahogany neck and employs the same “reverse-style” body shape as the illustrious original, albeit with a set neck in place of the latter’s neck-through-body construction. Nevertheless, the TB-70 still provides the same gritty playing feel and rich, full-sounding tone that fans of the TB design have come to expect. Harley Benton’s commitment to ensuring reliability and ease of use is also clearly displayed by this bass’s deluxe hardware, which includes a floating die-cast bridge and a set of sealed machine heads. This bundle also includes the Harley Benton HB-40B, a compact 40-watt combo amp with a headphone output and an AUX input for external backing tracks - perfect for practising at home. A nylon strap, a gig bag, and an instrument cable are also included in the scope of delivery.

The TB-70 delivers a full and punchy sound that is ideal for Rock music and related styles and will sit perfectly in the mix when playing with a band, but the two Roswell GB4 mini-humbuckers and effective two-band EQ with dedicated controls for bass and treble as well as a master volume control with a push-pull function for switching between active and passive modes also provide more than enough different options for players to individually sculpt their tone, ensuring that this bass is by no means restricted to just one musical genre. The included HB-40B amplifier in turn features a three-band EQ section complete with a parametric mid-range control as well as an onboard compressor, thus giving the player even greater tonal flexibility.

The look and sound of the Harley Benton TB-70 make it a bass that is right at home in heavier styles of music, but the choice of active and passive operation makes it versatile enough to capably handle other styles of music as well, and the HB-40B combo provides sufficient output and volume for the rehearsal room. The amp's integrated DI output can also be used to connect it to a PA system for use on stage, where its compact dimensions will ensure that space is not an issue. Both the amp and the bass itself, protected by its padded gig bag, are extremely easy to transport, but players who prefer to stay at home can of course also use the HB-40B's headphone output to practise silently.
