The Harley Benton PB-20 Satin Black is a four-string P-style bass finished in matt black that is especially interesting for bassists who prefer the look and sound of a classic, but don't want to spend a fortune on it. A poplar body, a maple neck, and an roseacer fingerboard are the basis of the Harley Benton PB-20. Just like the original, it has a bolt-on neck design, which ensures a sound with plenty of attack. 20 frets offer enough space for basslines of all kinds and the neck itself, which is 42mm wide at the nut and features a C profile, promises an instantly familiar, comfortable playing feel. The signature split coil pickup and passive electronics with one volume and one tone control have always been part of the "PB" signature sound, and the PB-20 is no exception. An instrument needs more than just a good sound to make an impression, however: Looks also have their part to play. The PB-20's design, finish, vintage-style machine heads, and pickguard all contribute to its authentic appearance, and the matt black colour adds a modern touch and makes it particularly well-suited for heavier musical styles.

Review after 4 weeks of use

This must be the best Bass Thomann has to offer.

Nog wat meer uitleg :)
Na twee dagen afhouden toch gekocht. Stevige verpakking, alles prima. Bas was spotless.
Tuners, lak, afstelling, potmeters. Prima. Niets aan gedaan! Meteen mee naar lange repetitieavond met grote bandbezetting. Gitaren, drums, toetsen, blazers, zangers. Soul funk, rock, pop. Markbass cmd-102p. Fijn spelen, prima geluid. Iedereen wil ook wel zo’n mooie idioot goedkope bas ;). De dag erop D’Addario snaren gemonteerd, pickup moest meteen 3 mm naar beneden.... Nog beter geluid. Nu avond repetitie met klein ensemble, Americana, wel luide gitaren. Swr combo. Weer goed geluid, echt anders als de jazzbassist die ik normaal heb. Meer richting Emg’s zoals mijn actieve Koreaanse Spector en Hohner steinberger. Wel een beetje minder midpunch, maar toonregeling versterkers lossen dat op. Volgende keer een 15” proberen voor old school. En wat is het een stoer basje!
Weken erop thuis veel nieuwe sets geoefend en bandrepetities. Bas blijft staan als een huis. Wel opengemaakt vanwege aardestoring (brom als je de snaren niet aanraakt) jackplug is redelijke kwaliteit, potmeters klein, maar soepel. Misschien ooit vervangen en afschermen, maar laat deze bas maar eens een tijdje zichzelf bewijzen. Onder de stevige brug gekeken (lijkt betere kwaliteit als de pb-20 brug van een jaar of twee terug) lak netjes afgeschuurd voor de aardedraad, maar die was net de andere kant opgebogen ;) simpele op te lossen dus. Brug zat goed vast.
Speelt en klinkt ook lekker met drop D.
Geheel zo netjes, ongelofelijk. Frets prima. Zijn na weken warm binnen, koud buiten, klein beetje voelbaar, maar niet scherp. De gewone temperatuurreactie dus!
Verder: iets ruimere hals als een jazz, lang niet zo dik als mijn oude pb50, klank dus niet de jazz middenknor, maar wat meer wat lomper. Goed in te regelen.
Conclusie: echt goede bas met goed geluid. Nieuwe snaren zeer aan te raden, d’addario, maar Fender heeft ze ook :). Ongelofelijk, wat een plezier van zo’n goedkope en erg goede bas! (Je andere bassen gaan je haten ;)

Deze P-Bass van Harley Benton is werkelijk bloedmooi. De basgitaar is ongelofelijk goed afgewerkt. Ik had er d'Addario snaren bij besteld, maar de snaren die geleverd werden, zijn absoluut niet verkeerd om mee te beginnen. Ik ben een gitarist die het bassen toch wat meer wil verkennen. De bas versterk ik met een Orange Crush Bass 50 en die combinatie blijkt een hele goede keuze geweest te zijn. Dikke aanrader. Voor de prijs krijg je meer dan je verwacht!

Ongelofelijk

Ik speel al bijna 40 jaar basgitaar en kocht deze gewoon voor de leuk beetje afstellen en zo. Nou afstellen was niet nodig , had ook een set D&R snaren bijbesteld maar originele zitten er nog op
Prima. Dames en heren dit is een aanrader ! En weet een basgitarist heeft nooit genoeg bassies ;)

Harley Benton PB-20 SBK-beste prijs-kwaliteits verhouding

De Harley Benton PB-20 SBK pas geleden gekocht bij Thomann. Keurig verpakt geleverd en tijdens het uitpakken viel meteen de uitstekende afwerking van deze prachtige bas op. Heb de snaren wel iets lager gezet maar dat is persoonlijk natuurlijk. Voor de rest helemaal niets op aan te merken! Keurige afwerking van de fraaie matte lak, geen scherpe frets, ook een vlakke hals zodoende geen fretbuzz bij lage afstelling, ook geen deadspots te ontdekken. Bij aansluiten ook weer aangenaam verrast door het geluid. Deze bas klinkt echt zoals als een Precision hoort te klinken. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat je voor dit geld geen betere bas zult vinden! Voor mij verdient deze bas meer dan 5 sterren ;-)
