Modular and hybrid studio command centre

The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is a high-performance USB-C interface that connects, manages, and synchronises complex electronic and hybrid studio setups within a single 1U rack unit. It features sixteen analogue line inputs (two of which include premium DiscretePRO mic preamps), twelve analogue outputs, dual ADAT I/O supporting up to sixteen digital channels, word clock synchronisation, and extensive MIDI routing functionalities. Also, eight DC-coupled rear-panel outputs generate control voltages (CV) for modular analogue synthesizers and other voltage-controlled hardware. High-resolution AD/DA converters ensure signal integrity and pristine audio capture, while the MIDI matrix, dual internal mixer architecture, and comprehensive software ecosystem – including studio-grade sounds and effects drawn from Arturia's catalogue – allow signals to be freely routed between hardware and software environments for processing and recording, offering a uniquely flexible workflow for electronic producers.

Hands-on signal management

Beyond its focus on electronic production workflows, the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is also a capable recording front end, with essential features accessible on the well-organised front panel. Two pristine DiscretePRO preamps with switchable 48V phantom power and generous clean gain allow microphones, instruments, or DI sources to be captured at 24-bit/192kHz on the fly, while all sixteen line inputs remain available for large synthesizer rigs, mixers, and external processors. Clear controls and a crisp display enable straightforward gain staging, input configuration, and monitoring without diving into software menus. The eight rear DC-coupled outputs can carry audio signals or generate control voltages (CV) and gate signals for modular systems, while the word clock I/O maintains stable synchronisation across complex setups.

Routing and standalone operation

The sophisticated dual-mixer architecture at the core of the AudioFuse 16Rig supports both flexible DAW integration and true standalone operation. Separate Main and Cue mixers allow parallel configurations to serve different purposes, such as playback/monitoring mixes when tracking a live source, or troubleshooting a complex rig during a performance without affecting the main output. Routing options can be selected directly from the front panel via the display and rotary encoders, while deeper system configuration is accessed via the AudioFuse Control Center software when needed. An internal MIDI patchbay allows controllers, synths, and external devices to communicate independently of a DAW, allowing the AudioFuse 16Rig to pilot complete electronic systems alongside standard audio duties.

Immersive workflows

AudioFuse 16Rig adapts easily to demanding hybrid setups, whether managing a studio full of hardware synthesizers, configuring a recording and monitoring environment, or piloting a live hardware rig. Signals can be freely routed across analogue, digital, and CV domains via the internal routing matrix, building complex effects chains, parallel processing paths, or custom monitoring mixes and recording routes. Immersive audio scenarios – from surround sound configurations to artistic installations – can be precisely calibrated thanks to the flexible output architecture, with level control and speaker management handled directly from the interface. The combination of deep routing flexibility, DC-coupled outputs for CV/Gate control, and full standalone operation allows musicians and producers to shift fluidly between DAW workflows, hardware sequencing, and modular synth setups.

About Arturia

Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.

Production software ecosystem

Arturia's AudioFuse 16Rig is supported by an extensive software package that complements its hardware-focused design and hybrid studio workflow. The AudioFuse Creative Suite includes a curated collection of Arturia effects inspired by classic studio hardware (such as Pre 1973, Pre V76, Pre TridA, Comp FET-76, Rev PLATE-140, Delay TAPE-201, Chorus JUN-6, Filter MINI, and Phaser BI-TRON) providing high-quality processing directly within the DAW environment. Analog Lab Intro provides a broad palette of synthesizer and keyboard sounds drawn from Arturia's V Collection. Alongside the AudioFuse Control Center, this ecosystem elevates the AudioFuse 16Rig's hybrid studio concept beyond immaculate audio capture, allowing projects to move seamlessly between hardware and software environments, whether mixing, sound designing, or recording. As bundled software may evolve, the manufacturer's website should be consulted for current details.

The way to go for everyone using external hardware.

This Arturia 16Rig is hands down one of the best investments I've ever made. Having used a wide array of interfaces over the past 15 years, this one really stands out. Setting it up is a breeze thanks to its intuitive design and clear labeling and unlike other interfaces, there was no need to use the console plugin or read the entire manual first, because the 16Rig's device screen provides all necessary info. It's also extremely user-friendly.

With 16 inputs and 10 outputs, it's ideal for effortlessly connecting multiple synths or effects to your computer. The front inputs and outputs are very well thought of, allowing you to quickly connect any effect/synth or even a phone to your computer.

I can't praise this unit enough, seriously. Thank you, Arturia!

Pure Professional Quality in a Compact Rack Unit
Emulator 07.09.2025
I’ve used many audio interfaces over the years, and the Arturia AudioFuse 16R has easily become one of my favorites. It offers an incredible balance of high-end sound quality, solid build, and flexible I/O – all in a compact, rack-mounted format that fits perfectly into any professional or semi-pro setup.

Sound Quality

The sound is absolutely pristine. The preamps are ultra-clean and transparent, with more than enough gain for any type of microphone or instrument. They’re musical, dynamic, and don’t color the sound — exactly what I want in a high-quality interface.

Connectivity & Workflow

With 16 inputs and 16 outputs, plus ADAT expansion, it integrates flawlessly into my studio. The AudioFuse Control Center software is intuitive and powerful - perfect for managing routing and monitor mixes.

Build & Reliability

Build quality is excellent. The metal chassis feels solid and durable, and the interface runs cool and stable even during long recording sessions. I’ve had zero dropouts or performance issues, even with heavy sessions running multiple tracks and plugins.

Small Caveat

The only minor downside is the lack of S/PDIF connections, which would have been useful for connecting some digital outboard gear I occasionally use. Not a dealbreaker by any means, especially with ADAT available, but worth noting for those who rely on S/PDIF in their setup.

Verdict

The AudioFuse 16R is an absolute workhorse and a true pleasure to use. If you need a reliable, great-sounding, and professional-grade interface with plenty of I/O, this is one of the best options in its price range. Arturia has nailed it — highly recommended.

Almost perfect for home studio with many devices
klaim 09.11.2024
Good:
- the routing system is super helpful in not having to add a mixer to my setup (that take space), which is what I had before and is completely replaced by this unit, in addition to act as a proper audio interface;
- that it is autonomous is super helpful for preparing live setup;
- far enough input for all my devices to be plugged in and no need to plug/unplug cables all the time;
- the number of output is helpful with mixing when checking with various speakers;

Bad:
- Only 2 input (front) handle XLR cables :/
- I would have preferred a second independent headphone output with different/separate ohm settings to easily switch between my different headphones
- it took me several weeks to understand how the routing worked, mainly because I didnt realize that each input and output are digital audio interfaces, so there is a setup to understand with Windows too;
- no SPDI/F is not ideal for one of my devices, but that's a minor issue;
- the main mix is supposed to be controlled by midi devices but there are MANY issues related to this, wich they said they will fix in future firmware updates but is not fixed yet, so if you intend to control the mix with a midi controller beware that it will probably not work exactly like you imagine.

Overall an excellent unit which would be perfect if it had better support for midi control and more varied kind of input.

Works Like an Arturia Dream
Jeffrey_M 14.01.2024
I own a couple of Arturia products and I have never been disappointed. The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is no different. It does what it says on the tin, whilst being fully supported with Arturia's amazing software capabilities.
Everything is streamlined and "Just works". The build quality of the unit feels solid and gives you trust that you purchased a professional item.
I was also surprised on how a quality interface differentiates in sound from budget interfaces. I was not expecting the sound quality to improve THAT much!
