Classic looks, complex sound

With the Caz series, the Turkish cymbal specialist Zultan has created a collection of extremely inexpensive handcrafted cymbals made of premium B20 bronze. Their sound profile has been carefully tuned to make them ideal for Jazz, as well as other genres that tend towards the mellow. The cymbals are manufactured in Turkey using methods that have remained more or less unchanged for centuries, with a great emphasis on skilled handcraft – the simple, classic look of the cymbals is just as traditional as the workmanship itself. The Caz range includes numerous Crash, Crash/Ride, Ride, Sizzle Ride, and Hi-Hat models; two pre-configured sets are also available.

Quality craftsmanship at a competitive price

Merely mentioning handcrafted cymbals from Turkey is enough to get knowledgeable drummers and percussionists pricking up their ears. However, a look at the prices involved will often have their jaws dropping, too. This is exactly where Zultan's Caz cymbals come in: Rarely has so much musical mojo been available for so little money. Now, some of the premium models from the established brands truly are outstanding – but the Caz cymbals, which are completely hand-lathed and hammered over their entire surface, are extremely competitive contenders. Jazz in Turkish

Caz is simply the Turkish word for Jazz, and it's clear that these cymbals have been designed with that very purpose in mind. Of course, this applies not only to Jazz, but to genres like Blues, Funk, Latin, and Soul, where Caz cymbals can also be played to their strengths. Jazz is just the beginning…

This is the case for all kinds of acoustic, unamplified music, which might include unplugged guitar sessions, but also live Salsa gigs or Gospel concerts in churches. Of course, there's nothing to stop Caz cymbals being used with amplified music too, as long as they're played sensitively and with the right tools. A top class ride

During my 35+ years career as Jazz drummer is was always looking for the right cymbals. During those years I have played on a lot of brands but i was never fully satisfied.

So while doing my ever going search for the right sound I came across the Zultan Caz series that I've found interesting because these cymbals are thinner than the average cymbal. I have already sung my praise over the 21 Caz sizzle ride and the praise is going on for the 20 Caz ride.

This is the ride I was looking for! A bright sound, singing nicely with a little restraint, very clear and smooth. Perfectly suited for the role as second ride together with the 21 Caz sizzle ride. This is also a very oldfashioned sounding cymbal in the good sense of word that is!

One little remark about this cymbal. It's not suitable for heavy hitters. You have to play it nice and softly, then the rich sound will come off nicely. When you hit it hard as ride cymbal the sound will blow up with every stroke.

As said in my other review; the Caz series will be a permanent part of my setup now and they go even with me on my upcoming studio project.

Te gekke jazz ride voor weinig

Enige minpunten: flink dynamisch, dus misschien nodig om met lichtere stokken te spelen; gaat ook ietwat op één toon 'zingen' bij harder ritmisch bespelen.

Maar: te gekke jazz ride voor weinig. Heb in die van mij een tweetal Zildjian rivets ingebouwd

Voor 150 euro krijg je een geweldige ride. toen ik hem binnen kreeg het eerste wat ik dacht is "wauw dat ziet er goed uit!"
Toen direct naar het drumstel gerend om hem uit te testen en wat een geluid! Een diepe warme toon perfect voor jazz.
En als je hem crashed komt er ook een heel "lekker aan de oren" klinkend geluid echt een topper!

Zeker aan te raden als je rustigere muziek speelt.

Conclusie: Een geweldig klinkende en mooi uitziende ride voor weinig geld.

Super goede ride voor lage prijs!

Ik zocht al een tijdje een goede ride voor jazz met een goede prijs en toen kwam ik langs deze. Toen ik de cymbal uit probeerde was ik verbaast hoe goed hij klinkt vooral voor de prijs! Hij heeft een mooi warm geluid en ook een goed crash geluid. Deze cymbal neem ik nu standaard mee naar het conservatorium en zal voor een lange tijd een deel van mijn drumstel zijn.
