Classic looks, complex sound

With the Caz series, the Turkish cymbal specialist Zultan has created a collection of extremely inexpensive handcrafted cymbals made of premium B20 bronze. Their sound profile has been carefully tuned to make them ideal for Jazz, as well as other genres that tend towards the mellow. The cymbals are manufactured in Turkey using methods that have remained more or less unchanged for centuries, with a great emphasis on skilled handcraft – the simple, classic look of the cymbals is just as traditional as the workmanship itself. The Caz range includes numerous Crash, Crash/Ride, Ride, Sizzle Ride, and Hi-Hat models; two pre-configured sets are also available.

Quality craftsmanship at a competitive price

Merely mentioning handcrafted cymbals from Turkey is enough to get knowledgeable drummers and percussionists pricking up their ears. However, a look at the prices involved will often have their jaws dropping, too. This is exactly where Zultan's Caz cymbals come in: Rarely has so much musical mojo been available for so little money. Now, some of the premium models from the established brands truly are outstanding – but the Caz cymbals, which are completely hand-lathed and hammered over their entire surface, are extremely competitive contenders. The 19" crash/ride certainly makes a convincing case for itself, bringing a warm, earthy sound with fine treble detail and a sensitive stick response.

Jazz in Turkish

Caz is simply the Turkish word for Jazz, and it's clear that these cymbals have been designed with that very purpose in mind. Jazz drummers need light instruments that react to the gentlest touch and deliver a balanced, harmonious sound across all dynamic levels, from soft to loud. Of course, this applies not only to Jazz, but to genres like Blues, Funk, Latin, and Soul, where Caz cymbals can also be played to their strengths. As such, this 19" crash/ride can be used in a variety of ways, delivering just the right sound for each of the aforementioned genres, and responding well to rods or brushes, too.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Jazz is just the beginning...

The Zultan Caz cymbals may have Jazz in their name, but can be used almost universally and are at home wherever pleasant, balanced cymbals are required – they have a warm sound spectrum without jarring frequencies. This is ideal for all kinds of acoustic, unamplified music, which might include unplugged guitar sessions, but also live Salsa gigs or Gospel concerts in churches. Of course, there's nothing to stop Caz cymbals being used with amplified music too, as long as they're played sensitively and with the right tools. The 19" Caz is a genuine combination cymbal, not a compromise – its clear, bright crash complements its soft, elegant ride sound beautifully.

Ik gebruik deze crash/ride voor low-volume situaties.
Hij klinkt en speelt heerlijk en is zeker niet overheersend.

Bargain of the century!

Buying cymbals unheard is risky, but enough good reviews of this 19" C/R and £110 price tag, made me take a chance.Ive been playing it
alongside Zildjians A and Ks,Meinl Byzanze Jazz,,and Istanbul Mel Lewis cymbals, and it holds its own sonically amongst these top end cymbals.I read the bell was smaller on these, that's untrue. It has a low pitch wash that never overpowers, and a decent crash that gets out of the way quick when hit on the edge, the bell is great for Latin grooves too.It is a jazz cymbal really, similar to K Zildjians, really great on a one cymbal and hi hats gig. This can be used in most music genres except really loud amplified stuff, however ,it's no quieter than other similar sized b20 hand hammered cymbals that I have.

I was looking for a budget cymbal that gave me a bright sound that allowed to fill a room, a bit more to the jazzy type of cymbal, even though I meanly play Rock. I really like it, I don't understand how it costs so little compared to other crashes.

Interesting!

Okay so, this is 95% crash and 5% ride.
Bell does not exist..bigger bell is on a splash, I swear to you.

Let's talk about CRASH QUALITY:
Cymbal is thin. Its not light and its not heavy. Something in between but I would say its lighter than I expected as it says "Crash/ride" but its only usable as a crash in my opinion...at least for my genre of music.

It has this dark sound like K customs but little bit warmer and softer. Its really pleasant to my ear. I am suprised this item does not cost more money. It's not a budget cymbal.

So, I played my first concert with this cymbal..I use it as my main crash in metalcore band along with A custom projection crashes on both side.
When I listened recordings from our live show it does not seem to open very fast as a crash. It is thin cymbal and when you jam solo you can hear it open very fast but, with a metal band playing with you, it will lose an accent if you play this crash first on a bar..I suppose its because of its sound characteristics (dark and warm).
Don't get me wrong when I say "it doesnt open very fast"..it DOES open fast but not in combination with brilliant cymbals and metal guitar riffs.
But still it goes very well with metal music if you ask me, you just need to get used to using it right.

Great great cymbal by awsome brand from greatest shop THOMANN!

Thank you!
