A complete AV production hub

The Yamaha MGX12V is a powerful, compact 12-channel digital mixing and recording console that builds upon the legacy of the analogue MG series, long recognised for its sound quality and straightforward operation. Based on these principles, it implements a fully digital architecture combining a high-quality front end – with four microphone preamps and four stereo input channels – precise conversion, and onboard signal processing, while retaining the familiar, hands-on workflow. Physical faders and controls preserve the immediacy of traditional mixing, while a 4.3" touchscreen provides direct access to channel and FX processing, routing, and system configuration. Designed to handle a wide range of applications, the MGX12V brings together multi-channel mixing, flexible internal and external routing, integrated DSP, and direct multitrack recording via USB (up to 18 simultaneous tracks) or straight to microSD (up to 16 tracks). To the series' audio production features, the MGX12V adds a HDMI input and pass-through, enabling simultaneous audio and video capture over USB for hybrid production workflows and content creation.

Inputs, outputs, and digital signal

The MGX12V's four premium-quality microphone preamps, mounted on combo XLR/TRS inputs, provide up to 86dB of clean gain with very low distortion, offering ample headroom for a wide range of signals. Four stereo channels – two on balanced TRS inputs and two on RCA inputs – allow additional devices to be connected, including Bluetooth audio. The mixer's output section is equally flexible, with two XLR main outputs, six TRS OMNI outputs for monitoring or external routing, and four headphone outputs. This architecture supports multiple monitor mixes, auxiliary sends, and integration with outboard equipment or into larger setups. The two internal FX buses and dedicated Sound Pad channel bring the total channel count to 18. The MGX12V also features HDMI input and pass-through connections for live AV applications.

Intuitive audio processing

The Yamaha MGX12V combines a familiar analogue workflow with onboard digital processing and effects. Each channel features EQ, compression, and gating, while two internal FX buses allow reverb and delay to be applied via a traditional send-based workflow. Additional processing such as vocal pitch correction, guitar amp simulation, and multi-band compression is also available. The 4.3" touchscreen provides clear visual feedback for channel parameters, routing, and effects, supported by Yamaha's Touch and Turn control for precise, real-time adjustment. A dedicated Sound Pad channel enables playback and triggering of audio directly from microSD, adding further flexibility for live or production use. The onboard DSP operates with minimal latency, allowing real-time monitoring of processed signals and smooth operation in both live and recording contexts.

About Yamaha

For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.

Comprehensive production tools

This digital mixer is aimed at professional and semi-professional users across a wide range of pro-audio applications, from live performance and recording to streaming and broadcasting. Its dual USB architecture is designed for seamless DAW integration, with the MAIN connection supporting up to 18 simultaneous channels of recording and playback, while the SUB USB stereo I/O can be used for streaming, backup recording, or external playback. HDMI input and pass-through further expand this flexibility, enabling direct integration of video sources for streaming and hybrid production setups. Direct recording to microSD removes the need for a computer in mobile setups and provides redundancy in live or studio environments, while Bluetooth audio allows wireless sources to be brought into the mix. The MGX12V can easily switch between roles, from live sound and multitrack recording to content creation and hybrid production workflows. The included software bundle, featuring Cubase AI, WaveLab Cast, Steinberg Plus, and the Basic FX Suite, ensures a smooth transition into DAW-based recording and post-production.
