Unbeatable value for money

The Behringer WING Rack is the smaller version of the full-size WING and the rack mounted version of the WING Compact – like its big brother, its array of features are the ideal way to put together a high-quality mix for smaller and even slightly larger gigs. Even this compact version is bursting with functions and connections: The standard Cat5e cable carries 3x48 channels, allowing up to 96 inputs to be processed simultaneously. The touchscreen is the most important of the various control options – it is refreshingly clear, comfortable to use, and very responsive. This means this digital stereo mixer supports an optimal workflow on stage or in the studio, where it is fully compatible with every other Midas and Behringer product. With its countless integrated features, many users have come to think of their WING Rack as something of a Swiss army knife – and it really does have the right tool for every occasion.

New ways of optimal control

The Behringer WING Rack is equipped with a console interface that's been optimised for fast and precise usage, which becomes especially clear when it's used for monitor mixing. The dedicated master and bus section has four levels and 16 hotkeys, all clearly named on their own coloured display, enabling a whole new level of efficiency and usability. The generously-sized 10.1" touchscreen – with its own rotary controls for intuitively adjusting all the necessary parameters, from FX to specific channel settings, and even for saving entire shows – has the same UI as the full-sized WING console. As such, the Behringer WING Rack offers sound engineers a comprehensive toolkit for accessing and activating all the elements of their shows, in real time and in immense detail. With all this functionality, it seems wrong to refer to it as a compact mixer at all!

For producers and live acts

The WING Rack can record up to 64 channels simultaneously using the pre-installed WING Live card, which enables live recordings to be saved onto two separate SD cards, an existing recording to be patched in, or a virtual soundcheck at the venue itself. It also couldn't be easier to switch out external cards – for instance, the WING Live card can be swapped for a WING Dante card, instantly giving users full 64x64 channel Dante connectivity. The internal AoIP (audio over IP) modules are directly integrated into the console's main motherboard, allowing the two internal network connections to activate Ethernet audio transmission. Currently, the console can also be upgraded with AoIP Dante and AoIP WSG, making it an ideal choice for professional and semi-pro users, from live sound technicians and FOH engineers to studio producers.

About Behringer

The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. An array of mixing consoles (such as the Eurodesk MX8000), signal processors, and later sound amplification and monitoring equipment, has made it possible for countless musicians to fit out their home studios, practice rooms, and mobile PAs within budget limits that were previously unthinkable. The acquisition of other companies, including Midas, Klark Teknik, and TC Electronic, meant that new product groups were added - and also resulted in the technical expertise of these companies being incorporated into product development.

Sampling at 48kHz

The Behringer WING Rack will be many users' first choice when it comes to installing a universal and flexible rack mixer in live venues and studios. Of course, it's always a controversial topic when a device uses a sampling rate of "only" 48kHz: For many technicians, this distinction is almost an article of faith. Ultimately, however, the simple and pragmatic truth is that the vast majority of bands (and indeed FOH engineers) work with 48kHz themselves. The latency is marginally longer, but this is imperceptible to the human ear in a live setting, and as such can't really be considered a genuine downside here. On the plus side, on the other hand, we have the WING's countless practical features and its immensely impressive price, which combine to make the Behringer WING Rack a thoroughbred workhorse that will adapt to and excel in almost any task the user might care to name.

Wing Rack - finally!
Pjotr L. 25.10.2024
As an avid X32 platform user, I have been waiting patiently, since the full size Wing came out, for Behringer to make a compact and a rack version. My X32 rack is now 9 years old and (though, still unbeatable for the price) gets outdated and power supply issues take time to repair. 2 days ago I got a shipment and, man, what a great machine it is. I will not moan about the smaller size of outputs, as there are multiple ways to solve this problem. 24 combo jack/XLR outputs with Midas blue box preamps for this price - it is insane bang for the buck. Not saying anything about the built in effects and routing power with the new firmware update. I will definitely update my review after some months of live usage, but now I am more than happy with what I got

Absolutely wonderful mixer
FrequentThomannShopper 17.07.2025
I bought this mixer because I needed more inputs—I've got a lot of stereo gear that I want to keep permanently connected without constantly plugging and unplugging. I initially considered the Wing Compact, but a) I don’t have the desk space for it, and b) I plan to use this mixer for live gigs in a rack case, so the rack version just made more sense. Even when used on a desk, it has a much smaller footprint.

The full-sized Wing was never really an option. It only has 8 onboard inputs, which means I would've needed to invest in additional expansion units just to get the input count I need. Plus, it’s physically too large for my setup.

The rack version’s compact size and its 24 combo XLR/TRS inputs already doubled what I had with my previous mixer. Still, 24 inputs weren’t quite enough for me, so I added an SD16 via the AES50 connection to expand further. With the SD units, those channels also show up in the DAW, which is a big plus.

I’m using this as an audio interface, and it provides 48 USB audio channels to the DAW. Just keep in mind that those 48 channels are all pre-fader (i.e., clean audio). If you want post-fader signals—say, with onboard effects—you'll have to use user routing, which is limited to 24 channels. That limitation surprised me. In case you'd want to have post-fader signals in the DAW, it’s worth being aware of this constraint.

I thought I’d miss having physical faders, but the touchscreen interface faders works surprisingly well. In the studio, I rarely adjust channel settings once they’re set—it's mostly about gain staging and maybe some EQ. Everything else happens in the DAW anyway.

The biggest downside is the lack of comprehensive manuals and documentation. You’ll end up relying heavily on YouTube and forums to figure things out.

A great Console
ISet 20.02.2025
This is an amazing console. Everything about this console is spot on. Very well layed out, and features keep getting added thanks to software updates. Great Eq, very surgical. The eq and comp emulations are all done very well. All the insert effects are great, and for some, i didnt even realize how much I needed them, until I tried them. Looking forward to see how far this consoles feature set will be taken through the software updates.
