The digital evolution of a true classic

The Yamaha MGX12 is a compact 12‑channel digital mixing console that builds upon a distinguished legacy with an updated feature set. Its analogue predecessor, the MG series, has long established itself as an industry standard. Now, the MGX12 adds flexible digital functionality to Yamaha's tried-and-tested build quality. It's equipped with versatile features designed to make it work intuitively in a wide range of applications. Yamaha's core concept here is sound quality and effortless operation – everything to a professional standard. The MGX12 is based on a fully digital mixing engine that combines precise signal processing with a familiar workflow. Physical faders and controls allow quick, organic mixing, while the 4.3‑inch touchscreen gives users clear access to channel processing, routing, and system configuration.

Low-distortion input and latency-free monitoring

The Yamaha MGX12 implements high‑quality microphone preamps on mic/line combo sockets, providing a gain range of up to 86dB with very low distortion. In addition to the four combo inputs, the MGX12 provides two stereo TRS line inputs, two stereo RCA line inputs, two XLR main outputs, six TRS‑OMNI outputs, and four headphone connections. Two USB ports (Main and Sub) allow flexible recording and playback setups. The main USB port enables up to 18 tracks to be recorded or played back simultaneously; the sub USB port supports two tracks. The integrated DSP processor offers extensive sound‑shaping options (including noise gate, compressor, EQ, delay, reverb, amp simulator, and voice changer), providing latency‑free monitoring of the processed signal.

Reliable and flexible

This digital mixer is aimed at professional and semi‑professional users across a wide range of fields. It can be variously used as a main or sub‑mixer for live performances, for making mobile recordings or quickly creating backup recordings, and also for home recording setups. Thanks to its USB audio interface, the Yamaha MGX12 can function as an effective frontend for recording and streaming: Individual channels can be recorded directly into the DAW. The secondary USB port can be used to send a stereo signal for backup or streaming, or to integrate two‑channel devices for external playback – and wireless sources can also be added via the Bluetooth function and patched to any channel strip. For additional operational reliability, the MGX12 can record up to 16 tracks directly to a microSD card.

About Yamaha

For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.

Part of a high-powered family

The Yamaha MGX12 is part of a complete series of digital mixing consoles. In addition to the 12‑channel version described here, the range includes a 16‑channel model (MGX16), as well as two similarly outfitted audio‑video variants that, for the first time, also offer full HDMI functionality for video recording and streaming (MGX12V and MGX16V). All models are available in a black or white finish, with the robust Yamaha construction that users the world over have come to expect. All the devices in the MGX ecosystem feature a tactile physical control surface, support multitrack recording, and include a microSD card slot. Each unit also includes a comprehensive software bundle with a DAW, a post‑production suite, and a collection of virtual instruments (i.e., Cubase AI, WaveLab Cast and Steinberg Plus), a Basic FX Suite licence, and a Yamaha PA‑300C power supply unit.
