Touch & Play

The Yamaha DM3S is a versatile mixing console for multitrack recordings, live streaming, compact post-production setups, and live mixing applications, with an impressively, almost surprisingly compact and lightweight design. A large touchscreen combined with an array of multi-functional controls ensures intuitive operation, while the high 96kHz sample rate enables even smaller studios to achieve professional recording quality. QuickPro presets support efficient sound design, offering ready-made settings for a wide range of microphones and output devices from well-known manufacturers. Extensive connectivity further enhances flexibility – the only thing the DM3S really lacks in this regard is Dante networking, which the DM3 does have. Multi-track recording via USB-to-Host making it easy to set up fast and reliable live streams. Freely assignable analogue Omni Outs, a network connection, and a software package that includes Steinberg Cubase AI with VST Rack Elements complete a well-rounded, production-ready package.

Small and versatile

Weighing just 6.5kg and measuring only 320mm in width, the Yamaha DM3S really is an impressively compact and lightweight mixing console, ideal for flexible, modern production environments. The angled surface features a responsive 9" touchscreen giving users intuitive control over a whole host of features; for instance, simply use two fingers to draw EQ curves, for fast and precise sound shaping. Below it, a space-saving multi-functional touch-and-turn button and fader strip provides flexible operation, supporting custom fader banks with multilingual labelling and optional remote control via tablet. Because it supports both OSC over Ethernet and MIDI over USB, the Yamaha DM3S ensures seamless integration into professional setups. With 200 customisable presets, 18 effects across two multi-effect processors, built-in GEQs, and simple stereo recording onto a USB stick, the DM3S is a powerful performer.

About Yamaha

For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.

From home studio to live mix

In the recording studio, the Yamaha DM3S can serves as the central hub for music production, making producers' workflow smoother and more efficient. Having prepared scenes is invaluable not only for live streaming via a computer connected through USB, but also for podcasts and interviews, ensuring consistency and efficiency. In live streaming setups, the DM3S can function as a dedicated streaming mixer while another console handles the live mix, providing flexibility in complex productions. In the studio, the VST Rack Elements plugin included here allows users to build a custom effects rack tailored to their needs; similarly, when multiple acts perform in succession, scenes can be saved during sound checks, so everything is instantly ready for the next band. With the DM3 StageMix app, each performer can create their personalised monitor mix, while remote FOH control of the console is simple and intuitive.
