Compact and flexible USB controller
The Yamaha CC1 is a compact single-fader hardware controller designed for music producers, streamers, podcasters, and video content creators, built around a console-style 100mm motorised fader, twelve assignable LCD buttons, and an array of rotary knobs and transport controls – all in a portable, desktop-friendly unit. The CC1 is configured via Yamaha's proprietary Control Center software, integrating deeply with Steinberg's Cubase and Nuendo; it also supports Mackie and HUI protocols for broader DAW compatibility, as well as OBS Studio for professional live streaming and content creation. The LCD buttons work within the Elgato Stream Deck ecosystem, allowing functions to be assigned and visual feedback displayed directly on the keys – making the CC1 equally at home managing a live stream in OBS as it is riding faders in Cubase.
A console-grade fader
The motorised fader at the heart of the CC1 is the same component found in Yamaha's professional digital mixing consoles – a reassuring indicator of its build quality, sensitivity, and longevity. With a 100mm throw, touch sensing, and 10-bit resolution, it is well suited to writing precise automation curves manually, and follows parameter changes during playback thanks to its motorisation. The adjacent channel controls provide direct access to per-channel functions such as mute, solo, panning, and monitoring, while the context-sensitive Advanced Integration (AI) knob above the main rotary allows users to immediately address whichever parameter is currently focused in the DAW – whether under the mouse pointer or otherwise active in the project.
Full creative control
While the Yamaha CC1 is ideally suited to DAW-based music production, it's equally at home controlling a wide range of other software – from video production tools and streaming platforms to media players and remote communication and conferencing applications. The twelve LCD buttons are particularly well suited to this broader role, thanks too to their ability to display changing values such as levels in real time. Future firmware updates are planned to expand compatibility further, including support for Yamaha USB audio interfaces and mixers, and eventual integration with Steinberg's MixKey software for direct control of USB microphone levels and muting. For all its flexible functionality, the CC1's slim, lightweight design ensures it can travel unobtrusively alongside a laptop in a mobile rig.
About Yamaha
For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.
Flexible enough for streaming, video editing and more
In live streaming environments, the Yamaha CC1 brings essential functions – application switching, audio level adjustments, scene changes – within immediate physical reach, reducing reliance on mouse and keyboard input during a stream. When video post-production is the task at hand, transport control, timeline navigation, clip selection, and parameter adjustments can all be handled directly from the hardware, keeping the editor's focus on the content rather than the interface. The package includes a tilt stand with three-position height adjustment for comfortable desktop use, a 1.5m USB-C cable, and a Cubase AI licence. A foot switch input adds further hands-free control options – the CC1 is compatible with the Yamaha FC5 and FC7 pedals (sold separately).
