Power on all four channels

The Quadro 500 DSP is an amplifier from Thomann's own brand the t.amp, and it's outstanding in more ways than one. The amp offers four inputs that aren't just independently controllable, but can also be routed to four outputs in any order. The Quadro also offers whole host of settings and options, accessible both on the unit itself and via a connected PC. A Class D amplifier, the t.amp Quadro 500 DSP has solid technical specs, with high amplifier efficiency and low heat generation. Still, users should make sure they've got enough space to install it simply due to the amp's dimensions; it's a standard 1U rack amp, but at 460mm deep larger than many amps.

Professional EQ, PC control

Despite the pared back appearance of the 46cm long amp's housing, the menu is impressively detailed. On the front there's a rotary control for navigating the display and a USB-B port for connecting the amp to a computer. That's pretty much it though, apart from the on/off switch – no mute buttons for the outputs, for instance. On the back, there are four XLR inputs, four lockable Speaker Twist outs (each with 500W output at 4 ohms), and a practical resettable fuse. But now on to the menu: It can be operated particularly comfortably on a Windows device, where the outputs can be freely assigned and muted; each channel also offers a fully parametric eight-band EQ with the phase rotation and bypass functions, a line delay, high-pass and low-pass filters with selectable filter type, a compressor, and a gate. Any combination of these settings can also be saved as a preset.

For more than two speakers

The t.amp Quadro 500 DSP really comes into its own when more than two speakers need to be connected. This could be, for example, a four-point PA system where the guests are seated in the centre. In long rooms, or even churches, a delay line can be connected to the two additional outputs in addition to a classic front PA, especially since the Quadro comes with a delay function as standard. Operators of small clubs and venues can hook up a set of monitors, in addition to the FOH speakers. The fact that the built-in fuse can be reset is especially useful for live operation, and for schools or event spaces where the equipment has been professionally installed by a technician, the amp can be secured with a PIN to prevent unwanted changes.

Powerful control centre

Before using the amplifier with a PC for the first time, the amp's driver needs to be downloaded from the product page. To connect the amplifier to the computer, use a standard USB cable and make sure that the amplifier's power supply connection is securely plugged in. The EV ZLX 12 passive 12" speakers, for instance, make ideal front speakers. If the plan is to connect stage monitors to the two other outputs, we recommend the LD Systems Stinger 8 G3 or the FBT J8 J-Series. Suitable speaker cables are available in various lengths: For example, the pro snake TPL 10 LL is is a professional-grade 10m cable.

Goeie versterker.

Mijn eerste digitale. Man, wat was dat even wennen. Voor mij was een eindtrap -nou ja- een vrij dom ding, gewoon versterken. Als ik deze de eerste keer aansloot klonk het geluid heel dun. Even op de PC aangesloten en oh my God, wat instellingen moet je allemaal doen om dit OK te krijgen. Intussen ingesteld en ik moet zeggen: klinkt gewoon uitstekend. En nu mijn lijstje wat ik leuk vind en wat iets minder.

Leuk:
Goed vermogen. Gaat echt heel hard.
Klank is echt goed (al moet je er wel een beetje aan werken)
Veel routing mogelijkheden en presets, heb er intussen al een paar vastgelegd voor verschillende situaties
Ventilatie zo goed als onhoorbaar.

Minder leuk:
1 RU maar voor de rest enorm beest. Family pizza anyone? Heb zelfs een speciale case moeten kopen om dit ding te transporteren (past niet in mijn flightcases :(. Gelukkig hebben ze bij Thomann altijd wel iets waar zo'n ding in past.
Bediening op het toestel zelf niet intuïtief (software gelukkig wel).
Kan niet onder de 4 Ohm (hoewel, heb hem getest op 2,7 en als je hem niet te veel belast heeft hij daar blijkbaar niet echt een probleem mee).

Conclusie: zeer goede versterker. Door Covid nog geen live-gig mee kunnen doen maar moet lukken. Altijd al een beetje reserve gehad bij een klasse D maar je kan alleen maar bijleren nietwaar.

Wat een geweldig ding!

Moest lang wachten totdat ik hem eindelijk in mijn handen kreeg, maarja he, covid kan je waarschijnlijk wel de schuld geven met de chip shortage. Eindelijk uitproberen crashte de firmware of DSP al na een uurtje spelen waardoor de display niet meer werkte en geen meer geluid produceerde. Gelijk een reparatie aangevraagd en binnen 2 weken kreeg ik hem weer terug in mijn handen met volle plezier! Genoeg vermogen om een the box Pyrit 212 Sub aan te drijven als bridge kanaal! Ook handig zoon DSP, eerst deed ik dat via software op de computer, leuk om uit te proberen maar werkte niet stabiel en nu heb ik eindelijk een DSP op hardware niveau en het klinkt nog beter ook! Was alleen wel fijner geweest als het software gedeelte wat meer uitgebreid kan worden met bijvoorbeeld meer equalizer banden. Ben zelf gewend dat ik er 15 of 31 kan gebruiken i.p.v. 8 dat momenteel is. Heel erg tevreden met het product en de klantenservice van Thomann, bravo!

Prima ding voor weinig!

de amp is een prima apparaat als je nagaat wat hij kost.
echte value for money!

heb 3 in een vaste installatie gebruikt voor een aantal satelliet speakers en 1x een dubbele 12inch sub.

Let op: dienen wel goed geventileerd te blijven, ivm worden wel flink warm (geeft geen problemen)

I ordered this amplifier because i have a 2 way system at home.
I was very unsure, but it turned out that the amplifier was very good.

Sound quality is great! Nothing to say about it! It's class D. No coloring of the sound as far as i am concerned

What i was unsure about was the ratings, it dosesn't say much about load/ohm/watt at what THD.
I have measured it to deliver 4x640w @ 4 ohms @ 1% THD so i am quite happy!

Also, i was exited to find out about noise from the fans. I can't hear them, really. There are two temperature controlled 80mm fans placed at an angle inside, pulling air from front and side and pushes it out on right side.

It's easy to use! Both the software and the on board controller works really great to set up, load, save and adjust presets and settings.

I REALLY recommends this amplifier, especialy for home use (Example; home teatre/home cinema, multi way setups and sub arrays)

I don't know if there are any amplifiers that can compare with this one for the price, and maybe even even more expensive amplifiers.
