Pocket-sized pitch correction

The TC Helicon Voice Tone C1 is a vocal processor housed in a straightforward foot pedal, offering everything from subtle pitch correction to full HardTune effects. A guitar or other instrument can be connected on the right-hand side, providing a reference signal for the vocal pitch correction. The pedal also includes a gender effect, which can transform even deep male voices into female ones. Any microphone plugged into the XLR input receives automatic 24V phantom power, allowing performers to focus entirely on their voice, while the microphone level is easily adjusted via a side-mounted gain control, keeping the interface clean and simple. Plug it in, set the levels, and let the C1 add polish to any performance.

From HardTune to Gendering

The Voice Tone C1 features a user interface with three rotary controls, keeping operation intuitive and straightforward. The left dial selects the key for pitch correction when no signal is present from the instrument input; the middle dial adjusts the level of the correction, from subtle tuning to full HardTune; the right dial transforms a deep male voice into otherworldly feminine vocals. The footswitch engages the entire effect, while a recessed gain control on the left side allows precise adjustment of the connected microphone without risk of accidental changes. Finally, a red LED provides clear visual feedback to indicate when the pedal is active.

Perfect any performance

The Voice Tone C1 is ideal for both beginners and advanced users who want to enhance their performance with precise pitch correction, and guitarists can connect their instrument so the effect follows the notes they play. Compact and robust, it's the size of a standard foot pedal, making it easy to fit onto any stage setup, while a ground lift switch helps eliminate unwanted hum from ground loops. In addition to the footswitch, the effect can also be controlled directly from the optionally available MP-75 microphone in Mic Control mode, activated via a button on the right-hand side of the unit, and firmware updates can be easily installed through the USB port, keeping the device up to date.

About TC Helicon

TC Helicon was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of TC Electronic in cooperation with IVL Technologies Ltd. and has since specialised in voice recording technology. TC Helicon focuses primarily on portable audio interfaces. The product range also includes various signal processors designed for the voice, in the form of effect pedals or compact devices with microphone stand mounts. A link in the signal chain

The XLR input and output on the front of the Voice Tone C1 allow the processed signal to be sent directly to a mixing console, where the overall performance volume can be controlled. Creative musicians can chain together multiple Voice Tone units in series to generate a customised sound: All they need is the separately available Singles Connect Kit, which supports up to four TC Helicon effects pedals, with the first unit controlling the overall volume. All TC Helicon vocal effects share a consistent design, featuring a black metal housing with coloured accents, ensuring a uniform, professional look when stacked together on stage.

TC-Helicon Voice Tone C1

Ik ben van mijzelf niet een hele goede zanger. Als je verwacht dat de Helicon dat probleem voor je oplost heb je het mis. Toonhoogtes die je niet kon halen, haal je nu ook niet.

Daar staat tegenover dat in je eigen bereik het een prima apparaat is om je te ondersteunen. Je stem klinkt voller en krijgt meer body, mits je kiest voor een neutrale instelling. Daarbij kies ik voor de midden positie en niet voor 'hard' correctie. De gender functie gebruik ik nagenoeg niet omdat die te onnatuurlijk klinkt voor mijn gevoel.

Je kan het apparaat aansluiten op een instrument maar met een gitaar vind ik dat lastig. Voor mij werkt het beter om gewoon de 'key' van het nummer te kiezen, ofwel het basisakkoord van het nummer.

Afwerking is top en de bediening is eenvoudig.

does it's job very well and have no complaints about the sound quality and audio features.
Where I DO have a complaint is in the Power section;
1/ It runs from 12VDC so you cant link it to your normal Stomp box supply - you need to use the supplied PSU - just extra stuff on your pedalboard.
2/ It wont run from Phantom PSU - considering this is probably gonna be used in a live environment and connected to a Mixing desk this is an oversight. (Maybe it draws too much power for phantom operation)
However, - its now mounted permanently into my pedal board and does it's job well. (Just check you have the selector switches in the right place cos if you inadvertently change them - you can get some strange sounds :-) )

Does what you would expect. Really easy to use and not audible delay in the signal path. Just awesome and easy to use.
And don't be fooled: the scales-knob seems to only offer major keys and chromatic key. But you can look up the relative scales and set the relevant major key to match your minor key.
