The perfect companion for getting started

The Stentor Student II violin is the ideal instrument for students who want to kick-start their violin career with a high-quality instrument. The Stentor violin is carefully crafted by hand from various solid woods, so that each individual instrument is unique. The body and neck of the instrument are made of maple, the top from spruce, and the tuning pegs and fingerboard are both made of ebony, while the chinrest is crafted using hardwood. The result of this fine selection is a very well-defined sound that radiates depth and warmth. To simplify tuning, the tailpiece, which is made of a composite material, has four fine-tuners. The included wooden bow is strung with carefully selected natural horsehair that converges on an ebony frog. In combination with the supplied gig bag, this instrument is the perfect partner for entering the wonderful world of violin music.

A focus on quality

The tonewoods that form the basis of instrument making are dried for at least three years before being processed to ensure quality, stability, and above all a great sound. Stentor uses only natural adhesives to glue its many components, so that repairs can be carried out without hassle in the future - artificial adhesives cannot normally be removed in a precise manner. During production, all individual parts are marked, sawn to size, planed, and glued by hand. In order to guarantee the tonal quality of the final product, the thickness and quality of the material are re-measured repeatedly at numerous positions and at various stages of the manufacturing process.

Sometimes size does matter

Thanks to its great sound, excellent manufacturing quality, and size, the Stentor Student II 4/4 violin is not only suitable for beginners. It is also recommended to all those who have "outgrown" the instrument they have been using up to now. Usually, it is suitable for players over 1.50m tall or with an arm length of at least 60cm (if in doubt, ask an experienced violinist for a personal assessment). This violin comes with everything you need (bow and gig bag with separate material compartment), which makes it particularly interesting for price-conscious yet ambitious (aspiring) violinists.

Goed voor beginners

Goede beginnersviool 28.12.2018

Al verschillende keren besteld voor beginnende leerlingen. Voorkeur voor Student II tov Student I voor de ebbenhouten toets (bij goedkopere modellen kleurt de toets na enkele jaren spelen wit en de kwaliteit van het hout is ook minder).

Wordt niet altijd deftig gemonteerd geleverd, dus soms is een beetje afstellen van een deskundige of docent welkom...

De snaren die meegeleverd worden zijn van zeer lage kwaliteit. Bestel dus meteen een set Dominant snaren. Dit heeft een héél grote impact op de klank !

De strijkstok is doorgaans wel OK, maar zal na enkele tijd toch wel om vervanging vragen. Er zijn hiervoor best degelijke carbonbogen op de markt aan democratische prijzen !

Kortom, met een set nieuwe snaren erop vind ik dit een van de beste instapmodellen voor beginners. Prijs-kwaliteit gaat mijn voorkeur telkens terug uit naar dit instrument.

1 of the best student violins

For a while now I was searching for a good student violin but I didn't want to spend too much money as I'm still very new at this.
I've read and watched several reviews about student violins and the Stentor SR1500 was practically always named as one of the best options, if not the best.

Now that I've had the chance to play on this for a while, I have to say, the sound as far as I can tell is very good for its price range and the build quality is solid.

The violin comes with rosin and a bow in the case and even though both are of good quality, to get the maximum out of the instrument, I recommend upgrading these along with the strings at some point, but this isn't a must, with some tuning it plays perfectly fine out of the box.

To summarize, I would highly recommend this violin for (semi-)beginners because it's good to go as is and can last a lot longer during progression after replacing the standard strings with higher quality strings. All this for a very affordable price.

De viool zelf geeft een goed geluid voor een studieviool. Wel kan ik de viool niet meer beoordelen met de originelen snaren, aangezien ik tijdens het stemmen de A snaar brak (denk dat ik iets te enthousiast was). Ik heb nu de d’addario prelude snaren erop en ik ben erg tevreden met het geluid. Het stem mechanisme werkt ook goed en houdt zich goed als je de stemknoppen een beetje indrukt. Tot nu toe erg tevreden met dit vioolset, ik denk dat wel dat wanneer ik wat verder gevorderd ben met de viool dat ik een betere strijkstok erbij koop.

zeer mooie viool. aan de hogere kant van beginners violen. zeker het geld waard en ik verwacht er jaren plezier aan te hebben voordat ik pas een andere ga kopen. ik speel er nu een half jaartje op en ben nog steeds onder de indruk van het geluid. het enige wat ik heb veranderd zijn de snaren; pirastro tonica snaren heb ik erop gezet en hiermee klinkt de viool een heel stuk mooier.
