A USB mic designed for streaming
The Shure MV6 is a dynamic USB microphone that's been specifically designed for content creators and streamers who want an intuitive way to get their voice out there, capturing clean spoken audio with minimal setup. The MV6 plugs straight into a computer and handles its own gain via Auto Level Mode, so it's ready for action almost immediately. Recording and transmission run at up to 24‑bit/48 kHz quality; the mic draws on the same tech used in Shure's well‑known SM7 and MV7 models, and it follows the same design cues too, placing it squarely in Shure's established family of dynamic microphones.
Modern tech for a clear sound
The pop‑stopper technology built into the Shure MV6 effectively cuts out harsh‑sounding plosive bursts from any speaker's voice, keeping the audio clear and making an external pop filter unnecessary. An integrated signal processor also suppresses unwanted background noise – things like humming fans or buzzing air‑con – so what comes through really is just the voice itself. The cardioid pickup pattern helps in that regard, suppressing sound coming in from the sides. If unwanted noise starts to become a problem, the tap‑to‑mute button on the mic can be used to quickly silence the feed entirely. And for direct, zero‑latency monitoring of their own voice, creators can plug a pair of headphones into the 3.5mm jack on the back of the microphone.
Keep the levels on point
The Shure MV6 seems like it was created especially for streamers and content creators who want a microphone that's quick to set up, easy to handle, and compact enough for any workspace – all without compromising on the quality of their streams. Whether they're in the middle of a hectic gaming session or chatting quietly with an audience, the MV6's Auto Level Mode adjusts their gain levels in real time, even accounting for how far they are from the mic, and thus keeping levels spot‑on. Shure's free MOTIV Mix app can – among its many other features – be used to create a monitor mix; it's compatible with macOS and Windows. Similarly, the MOTIV Audio app works on almost all iOS and Android devices, making mobile setups with the flexible MV6 just as viable.
About Shure
The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.
Stay MOTIVated
In the MOTIV Mix desktop app, alongside creating a monitor mix, users also have access to a tone slider that tweaks the Auto Level Mode: Switching to Dark, for instance, emphasises a voice's low frequencies. The Bright setting adds more clarity, while Natural keeps the voice exactly as it is. With MOTIV Mix, conscientious content creators can also activate Shure's digital popper stopper and real‑time denoiser, noticeably enhancing the sound of their Shure MV6, although of course it's still respectable straight out of the box: The mic captures frequencies from 50Hz to 15kHz, and it can handle a maximum sound pressure level of 128dB SPL. Its MFi certification ensures smooth, reliable connectivity with iPhones and iPads, where the MV6 can be configured – and recordings edited – using the free MOTIV Audio app.
