In 2021, the renowned Italian speaker manufacturer RCF released the ART 912-A. Since 1996, the ART series has been synonymous with modern active speakers in synthetic casings. The RCF ART 912-A is a typically Italian combination of contemporary design and cutting-edge DSP features that are among the very best in this price category. This lightweight speaker is powered by a convection-cooled amplifier module: The amp has an impressive peak performance of 2100W and can be configured with one of the three integrated EQ presets (Linear, Boost, and Stage). The compact RCF ART 912A is fitted with M10 mounting points and a flange for elevated stands, and with its maximum sound level of 130dB, it can be used for a broad range of applications. The price end users have to pay for all this is – for a product from such a reliable brand – surprisingly reasonable.

Modern design yet easy to use

Thanks to the EQ presets, which can be toggled right on the unit itself, the RCF 912-A can be made ready for different uses in next to no time. When it comes to connections, the 912-A has clearly been designed with the axiom "less is more" in mind: Alongside the combo input socket, it has an XLR linkout socket and a volume control, making the speaker ideal for connecting directly to a DJ console or mixer. Thanks to RCF's innovative "Bass Motion Control" processing, the RCF ART 912-A is capable of generating a remarkably powerful bass-led sound, so that for smaller gigs, there's no real need for an external subwoofer.

Ambitious amateurs and practical pros

The characteristics of the RCF ART 912-A make it a universally effective audio all-rounder, and because it's also comparably affordable, it's a great choice for hobbyists, weekend DJs, and smaller rental operations. With its zero-maintenance active module and integrated mounting points, the RCF ART 912-A is also a viable and cost-effective option for clubs and bars, at least for smaller installations. Buying the RCF ART 912-A means investing in a speaker that not only sounds great, but also offers a category-best maximum sound pressure level.

About RCF

In 1949 the Italian manufacturer RCF began to manufacture microphones and expanded its portfolio in the 1950s with a variety of sound reinforcement products. With the creation of its own development department for loudspeakers, RCF was able to make a name for itself and became a supplier to numerous well-known loudspeaker manufacturers in the USA and Europe. In 1970 the firm began to market its own in-house built hi-fi speakers which have since become part of their product range. From 1980 onwards, RCF has also focused on audio amplification for motor vehicles. Since 1990 the firm has been, and remains today, one of the major suppliers in the professional loudspeaker market.

Robust and transparent full-range sound

The RCF ART 912-A isn't just affordable and robustly made on the outside - thanks to its integrated DSP features (like the aforementioned "Bass Motion Control" and RCF's proprietary FiRPHASE filtering), the sound it generates is both exceptionally transparent and imbued with a deep bass quality that is practically unheard of in this price category. As it has no internal mixer, the speaker is best suited to traditional sound reinforcement applications where it can be controlled via a mixing desk; depending on the setting, it can be used with or without additional subwoofers. Its seemingly limitless volume reserves mean the RCF ART 912-A can also be used for bands or DJs who like it loud, although at this level at least one decent 18" subwoofer per speaker unit should be part of the setup. Combined in this way, and depending on the specific configuration, the RCF ART 912-A can easily handle audience sizes of around 180–350 people.

Upgraded from bigger Mackie's and these hit even harder and the sound quality is just that much better in the mid to highs. Heavy but worth it. They feel quality. No better ay this price imo.
