Software and hardware-based setups

The Novation Launch Control XL 3 transmits MIDI data to computers and mobile devices via USB-C, while also providing classic 5-pin MIDI DIN In, Out and Thru connections for direct integration of external hardware. This flexibility allows seamless use in software-based DAW environments as well as in hybrid or fully hardware-focused setups. Standard MIDI commands such as CC, Note, Program Change and MIDI Clock are fully supported, ensuring broad compatibility across devices and workflows. With 15 custom modes available for flexible mapping, the controller adapts easily to different creative scenarios, while the high-resolution OLED display shows key parameter values from each control in real time for clear and intuitive operation.

About Novation

The English company Novation has been producing affordable popular synthesizers as well as MIDI controllers and keyboards since its foundation in 1992. The Novation Launch Control XL 3 delivers precise hands-on control over clips, tracks, and parameters, with 16 programmable buttons offering direct access to functions such as solo, mute, and track focus. Eight smooth, consistent faders manage levels and effects, while the optional fader pickup ensures seamless transitions when values are adjusted. A total of 24 endless rotary controls with RGB lights take care of panning, send levels, timeline navigation, and detailed envelope shaping with clear visual feedback. With 15 freely configurable custom modes, easily set up using the free Novation Components software, individual mappings can be created for virtually any MIDI-compatible software or hardware, making this device an ideal centrepiece for flexible and expressive performance rigs.
