I've been looking for a DI recording solution for home use, and I bought this unit after watching the Foxgear demo on YouTube. It's a compact device that fits easily on any pedalboard and comes with a 12V adapter. The build quality is solid.
However, the main issue is that even with all settings pushed to their maximum levels, the amp remains completely clean. According to the user guide, the gain knob (labeled Body) is supposed to "keep the amp clean or mimic the overall saturation of the real amp, including the power section, giving you the same sound of a cranked-up amplifier when you want it." Maybe I received a defective unit, but there's no saturation at all. The clean tone is good though.
As a pedal platform, it works fine with a fuzz or distortion pedal — but at that point, you might as well just use a simple DI box with a cab sim.
