Analogue sound for digital samples
Whether creating sounds with analogue synthesis or working with samples, the Elektron Analog Rytm MKII is a highly versatile groovebox that offers a wide range of sonic possibilities. Featuring eight voices, twelve tracks and a dedicated effects track, it provides extensive scope for building and shaping rhythmic patterns, with each track able to utilise either a dedicated analogue drum synthesis engine or digital samples. The analogue processing can also be applied to samples, allowing both sound sources to benefit from the unit's distinctive character and flexibility. A multimode filter, analogue overdrive and analogue compressor further expand the sound-design options, while an LFO can be assigned to modulate virtually any parameter, opening the door to evolving and highly dynamic textures. Completing the package is a 1GB internal memory, which makes it possible to record and store custom samples, adding yet another layer of creative freedom to an already remarkably adaptable instrument.
Move between beats and leads
The Analog Rytm MKII can function either as a multitimbral, monophonic sound module or as a synthesizer capable of playing up to four notes polyphonically Each of its twelve tracks can be equipped with a selectable synthesis engine, for distinct sonic characteristics and dedicated parameter sets that encourage detailed sound design. The Dual-VCO engine, for instance, is capable of producing both percussive elements and melodic tones, highlighting the instrument's ability to move seamlessly between beats and leads. Further control is provided by eight assignable encoders, while the Quick Performance feature allows any of ten macros to be mapped and adjusted directly from the interface for real-time manipulation. Scene mode makes it easy to introduce transitions and shifts during a performance, and the integrated sequencer adds another layer of creative control, by automating and retriggering parameters throughout a pattern.
Integrate into any workflow
The Analog Rytm MKII is housed in a sturdy black enclosure designed to withstand the demands of regular studio and stage use. Its eight voices can be routed individually through the dedicated outputs, making it possible to record and process each sound separately within a DAW. Two Exp/CV inputs are available for integrating external control voltages or foot controllers, a real benefit when performing live in particular. Unit also includes a pair of stereo main outputs and a headphone output for monitoring and playback. USB connectivity supports MIDI communication as well as Elektron's Overbridge technology, enabling close integration between the hardware and a computer-based workflow. Using the dedicated VST/AU plug-in, many aspects of the Analog Rytm MKII can be controlled directly from within the DAW, creating a smooth connection between hardware performance and software production.
About Elektron
The Swedish firm Elektron was founded in Gothenburg in 1998. The company develops tools for producers, artists, and DJs to perfect their respective crafts. The company's award-winning Overbridge software is designed to seamlessly integrate electronic musical instruments into computer-based DAWs as controllers and as external sound cards. Elektron is continuously bringing new innovations to the market in order to seamlessly integrate music into our day-to-day lives.
A whole library of unique samples
The integrated recording function of the Elektron Analog Rytm MKII allows musicians to capture samples directly via the rear-panel stereo jack input, making it easy to record external audio sources such as turntables. Once recorded, samples can be trimmed and assigned to an analogue track, where their pitch can be adjusted and additional processing applied using the multimode filter and analogue overdrive. The internal memory provides ample space for storing a large collection of sounds, and custom samples can be transferred from a computer via USB using Elektron's Transfer software, making it simple and straightforward to expand and personalise the instrument's sound library.
