Top made of typically Italian split hazel spruce from Val di Fiemme, air-dried for at least 20 years
Back made of flamed Bosnian maple, air-dried for at least 25 years
Sides and neck made from the same wood as the back
Fingerboard made from finest ebony
The instrument is varnished entirely in the manner of the great Cremonese masters of the 17th century – this includes: A wood primer based on casein and calcium, an amber-linseed oil varnish specially formulated by Edgar Russ and coloured with pigments to give the instrument a faithful reproduction of the original
