For guitarists looking to surf the musical space-time continuum without overcrowding their pedalboard with multiple delays, the EarthQuaker Silos offers the perfect solution. Unlike anything before it, Silos combines digital, analogue, and tape delays into one compact and powerful pedal, capturing everything from crisp, precise repeats to warm, vintage echoes. Designed for quick, straightforward use, it offers a clean layout suited to both stage and studio environments. Up to six presets can be saved for instant recall, while an expression pedal input allows real-time control of key parameters.
The EarthQuaker Devices Silos Multi-Generational Time Reflection Device features two operating modes which are indicated by the colour of the Save/Recall LED switch. In Live mode, the pedal will operate exactly where the controls are set and any changes will have no effect on the presets unless saved. In Preset mode, stored presets, including expression pedal mapping, are selected using the Preset switch, and the physical settings of the controls will be ignored. An additional hold function on the bypass switch lets users toggle between modes on the fly, providing quick access to two different sounds while performing. A TRS expression pedal input on the side allows real-time control of either Time, Repeat, or Mix, making the Silos delay highly versatile and ideal for fast, hands-on adjustment across a wide range of delay textures.
The EarthQuaker Silos offers three core delay types via a three-way toggle switch: Digital, Analogue, and Tape. Digital mode delivers clear, precise repeats with near-infinite delay times. Analogue mode introduces a warmer, mid-focused character with faster decaying repeats and dark and murky build-ups. Boasting a big presence without low end throb or overpowering high end, this works equally well with a clean signal or distortion. Tape mode adds a darker, dirtier tone with the signature imperfections that give tape echo its distinctive feel. A built-in tap tempo switch makes it easy to lock in the perfect delay time. Combining all the essential delay sounds of the past six decades into one streamlined, functional pedal, the Silos keeps things simple while offering maximum tonal flexibility.
EarthQuaker Devices was founded in 2004 by the musician Jamie Stillman, who had previously gathered years of experience in the world of music and sounds as the manager of a record label for metal, punk, and shoegaze bands. Today, his innovative pedal designs are among the most in-demand and desirable devices in the boutique segment, attracting interest from a huge community of musicians. Stillman is now in charge of a sizeable team of developers and technicians, who are continuously working from their base in Akron, Ohio to expand their catalogue of hand-made effects pedals. EarthQuaker Devices are used by renowned artists like Paul Simon, Coldplay, Tom Bukovac, Idles, and The Black Keys.
The EarthQuaker Silos is designed for anyone looking for a flexible delay pedal with a broad range of sounds. From crisp modern echoes to rich vintage delays, it adapts effortlessly to different styles and situations. And it's not just for guitar – used with bass or synthesizers, the Silos also delivers consistently high-quality results. In both live and studio environments, quick switching between saved sounds keeps things smooth and efficient. The Silos operates on 9V DC at 75mA and is compatible with all standard pedalboard power supplies.
