Dynamic, rich, and rocking

The DP155 FBK is a passive humbucker with F-spacing - slightly wider spacing between the magnets - specifically designed for the bridge position on guitars with Floyd Rose-style tremolo systems, and it has been a staple in DiMarzio's lineup since 1991. Built around AlNiCo-5 magnets and featuring a notably high resistance of 17.31kOhms, this pickup delivers plenty of character without necessarily pushing the highest output levels, making this humbucker a versatile choice for Rock styles ranging from chunky rhythm work to expressive solos. Among its many users is Josh Rand of Stone Sour, and like most DiMarzio pickups, the DP155 includes four-conductor wiring, allowing for flexible switching options such as coil-splitting and parallel configurations.

Upgrade for the bridge position

This passive pickup stands out thankst to its powerful yet balanced output level, paired with impressive dynamics that enable the player to precisely control the output volume and, by extension, the degree of saturation to which the amplifier is pushed. In its intended bridge position, this humbucker delivers the clarity and attack needed for tight rhythm work while still offering a full-bodied tone for single-note playing, even in the upper registers, where the AlNiCo-5 magnets help avoid any harshness. Thanks to the aforementioned four-conductor wiring, the pickup also puts a range of flexible configurations at the player's fingertips, including a convincing single-coil mode by splitting individual coils.

Low-end punch and an open overtone structure

The DiMarzio DP155FBK Tone Zone delivers a rich foundation in the bass and low midrange frequencies, providing solid support for both soaring solos in the higher registers and full-bodied chord playing, while also standing out for its excellent dynamic response and a distinctive overtone character. This unique tonal quality is made possible by DiMarzio’s patented "Dual Resonance Coils", which use two coils with the same number of windings but different wire gauges, resulting in varied resonance frequencies. Additionally, the Tone Zone offers an attractive single-coil sound when used in split mode, further enhancing its versatility.

About DiMarzio

In 1972, Larry DiMarzio created the first ever interchangeable pickup system for electric guitars. He went on to found the company and gave it its name. The New York-based manufacturer has long since become one of the largest suppliers in the field and provides guitarists and bassists with a comprehensive selection of pickups and other accessories. DiMarzio also works intensively with renowned artists such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse and Billy Sheehan, as well as renowned manufacturers such as Ibanez and Music Man.

All-rounder for every electric guitar

DiMarzio's Tone Zone pickups are true all-rounders for Rock guitarists, delivering a powerful humbucker sound that is full and balanced with impressive dynamics, all while preserving the instrument's natural tone and construction. In its DP155FBK version, this splittable bridge-position humbucker comes with a black finish and F-spacing, making this humbucker ideal for Fender guitars or Floyd Rose vibrato systems, and the design can be identified by the "F" on the baseplate. In addition to the standard humbucker format, Tone Zone pickups are also available in single-coil sizes for ST and T-style guitars, in soapbar/P90 housings, and for seven-string models. For the neck position, DiMarzio recommends pairing this pickup with the Air Norton, PAF Joe, or PAF Pro.

Dimarzio Tone Zone Pickup for Bridge position
Anoniem 29.07.2014
I got the Tone Zone bridge pick up (along with Air Norton) to replace my ageing V8 pickup on my mahogany body Ibanez RG520. I used a local music shop to get the pick ups fitted as I was not confident about doing myself. The Tech Guy absolutely loved them as it just said my guitar just sounds "Awesome". He was very impressed.

The Tone Zone is ultra hot in my ears, it can easily get hard rock and metal tones with limited effort. In the first few hours of playing these pick ups I can get Joe Bonamassa blue licks nicely to Metallica tones readily. The bass of the pick up is very high so you might need to back some off it your amp. This is the second Tone Zone, I have in my other guitar collection and there is a clear difference compared to the likes of PAF Pro and Air Classics also made by Dimarzio. I would say this pick up is good enough for modern metal as well as classic rock.

The F spaced Dimazio pickups are for electric guitars with Floyd Rose like tremolo system. It means that the poles of magnets are aligned with the strings.

Thomann did an good job in delivery which took three days to arrive once ordered. Sort of wished I should have brought these pick ups earlier. They are immense.

If your are looking for that deep, grinding metal tone, don't look further, because this is the solution! I have replaced the bridge pickup in one of my guitars with this rock monster and it has that perfect high gain metal sound when connected to any amp in lead channel, even the cheaper ones.

Used for the Bridge position of an Ibanez J-Custom

I have used this pickup in several guitars over the years, its my go to choice for rock.
it was the original stock pickup in the guitar but it died so i chose the same again to replace.

Dimarzio pickups are always top quality in sound and build.

i have used pickups from many other companies and Dimarzio are my favourite.
