Brute synthesis and sequencing power
Arturia's MiniBrute 2S Noir is a semi-modular, keyboardless analogue synthesizer designed for sequencer-driven sound design, modular expansion, and studio production. At its core lies the same dual-VCO architecture, Steiner-Parker filter, and Brute Factor feedback circuit as the MiniBrute 2, delivering fat basses, aggressive leads, and chaotic textures with an uncompromising analogue character. However, the 2S replaces the keyboard with a deep, 16-pattern sequencer, transforming it into a compositional platform for intricate modulation routing and evolving soundscapes. The streamlined interface – complete with 48-point patchbay and dedicated controls – keeps everything directly accessible without screens or menu navigation. Designed to fit into a Eurorack setup or work standalone, the MiniBrute 2S switches naturally from live experimentation to detailed studio programming. The stylish black-on-black finish of the Noir limited edition complements the classic analogue sound perfectly.

Oscillator and filter architecture
The MiniBrute 2S's sound engine centres on a dual-oscillator analogue architecture designed for bold and aggressive sound shaping. VCO1 generates saw, square, and triangle waves enhanced by Arturia's Metalizer waveshaping, Ultrasaw detuning, and pulse-width modulation for added harmonic richness. VCO2 contributes sine, saw, or square waves, enabling layering, cross-modulation, and hard-sync textures that create complex timbres. The mixer stage blends noise and external audio before the signal reaches the Steiner-Parker multi-mode filter, which provides low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch responses while maintaining clarity and presence even at higher resonance settings. Finally, the Brute Factor feedback circuit pushes the sound further – from subtle saturation to full-blown analogue distortion – while the patchbay opens the architecture to deeper routing possibilities, whether for internal modulation or external processing.

Ssequencing and modulation
The MiniBrute 2S's sequencer is its defining feature, offering three independent tracks per pattern for pitch/gate, modulation, and pressure/velocity. Each of the 16 storable patterns can chain up to 64 steps, with secondary parameters such as glide, LFO amplitude, and envelope times assignable to modulation tracks. Step editing supports copy/paste operations, ties, rests, and swing adjustments, while independent track lengths and play modes allow the creation of polyrhythmic and evolving sequences. Two LFOs with six waveforms and syncable rates, alongside a dual-envelope architecture (ADSR plus looping AR/ASR), animate pitch, filter cutoff, and waveshaping parameters for dynamic, expressive patches. Clock synchronisation via internal, MIDI, USB, or analogue sources integrates with DAWs, drum machines, and modular systems. The arpeggiator (with six modes and a looper function) can generate new ideas on the fly or interact with sequenced patterns.

About Arturia
Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Patchbay and Eurorack integration
Another of the MiniBrute 2S’s core strengths is its 48-point patchbay, which transforms the instrument from a standalone synth into a semi-modular sound design hub. Preconfigured internal routings allow immediate use without patch cables, while inserting cables overrides these normalled connections, unlocking complex signal paths and custom modulation possibilities. Control voltages from the LFOs, envelopes, or sequencer tracks can be freely rerouted across the synthesis engine or sent to external gear, while external CV and audio signals can be patched into the signal flow for hybrid interaction. This open architecture integrates naturally with Eurorack systems, including Arturia's RackBrute cases, extending the instrument’s capabilities in style – whether used as the centre of a modular setup or a standalone compositional tool.

Steiner-Parker Filter
The Steiner-Parker filter remains a cornerstone of the MiniBrute 2S's sonic identity, drawing inspiration from the legendary 1970s Steiner-Parker Synthacon. Unlike the smoother ladder filters found in many classic synths, this design delivers a sharper, more aggressive response, retaining clarity and punch even at high resonance levels. With low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch modes, it excels at everything from subtle tonal shaping to radical spectral transformations. Paired with the Brute Factor feedback circuit, the filter can shift from precise, surgical filtering to saturated, chaotic textures, cementing the MiniBrute 2S's distinctive analogue voice – whether used for basslines, leads, or experimental sound design.
