Although this device gets a lot of flak on YouTube by die hard MPC users, I honestly think this is a great device for people who either just enter the MPC world and are looking for an affordable MPC or for people who are looking for an MPC that can be used as a controller instead of a standalone device.
Please let me elaborate, I get it. If you are used to using a standalone MPC than you'll probably be disappointed if you buy this unit with the same requirement in mind. However if you new to the MPC world (like myself) and if you don't mind having an MPC as a midi controller instead of an standalone device (like myself) then this MPC is probably going to be a great investment for you.
The downside of this unit being strictly a controller is that you need a computer/ laptop to be able to use this unit and it is (as far as I'm aware of) a controller that mainly works in its fullest potential with Akai's own MPC 2.0 software.
The good thing about this unit in my opinion, is that first of all you get an MPC device for more than half the money of the MPC standalone version. You also get a lot of free sound packs included which add a good value to the price. The MPC 2.0 software is fairly easy to use and makes sampling very easy. It takes a few tutorials probably to get you started but once you set then you'll be able to create some nice tunes in a small amount of time.
If you don't mind having a midi controller version of the MPC instead of a standalone device, and therefore you don't mind using the controller in combination with a computer then this unit might be for you. Also if you don't mind making music with this controller on a monitor screen instead of the small screen of a standalone MPC then again this unit might be right for you. I for sure do not regret buying this unit and though the critics may dislike this unit for the fact that it is a controller. For me it is one of the best musical devices I've bought in a while.
