Countless control functions

The 40 pads provide instant clip launching in Ableton Live, with coloured RGB lights clearly showing the status of each clip. Eight assignable faders, along with an additional master fader, make volume control both precise and convenient. Each channel strip features dedicated buttons for clip stop, mute, solo, record, and crossfade, ensuring quick access to essential functions, while the eight velocity-sensitive drum pads positioned above the volume controls are ideal for expressive beat playing. On the right-hand side, eight MPC Q-Link controls are available for assigning a wide range of DAW parameters, and the eight additional knobs above each channel strip can be freely used for pan, sends, or any user-defined function. About Akai Professional

Akai Professional has its origins in the long-established Japanese company Akai, founded in 1929, which initially manufactured electric motors, soon to be followed by high-quality tape recorders and hi-fi products. Something useful for every user

The Bank Select buttons on the left make it easy to switch between scenes and tracks, while DJs will value the crossfade function, which makes mouse control a thing of the past – each channel is directly assignable to either side of the crossfader. Composers, on the other hand, will appreciate the front-mounted footswitch connection labelled FS, offering hands-free flexibility during recording or performance. Alongside the Ableton Live 9 Lite licence, the package also comes with the MPC Beats software suite, providing powerful tools for sample editing, audio effects, and hosting AU or VST plugins, ensuring a comprehensive and versatile production setup right out of the box.

Ich habe die APC40 Mk1 damals um die ganze Welt geschleppt und war genervt, weil sie das schwerste und klobigste Gerät im Gepäck war. Insofern ist die Mk2 eine Erlösung für mich: viel flacher und leichter. Sie hat kein Metallgehäuse mehr, das ich sowieso für unnötig halte. Die Encoder sitzen genauso robust und sind angenehmer zu bedienen. Die Fader sitzen fester in ihrer "Bahn", weil sie nicht mehr so viel Spiel haben - somit können sie sich nicht mehr verbiegen, wie es bei der Mk1 häufig vorkam. Und endlich fällt auch das Netzteil weg.
Für die Bedienung sind die farbigen LED-Buttons das größte Plus - bei bewusster, differenzierter Farbgebung der Ableton-Clips braucht man nun kaum noch auf den Bildschirm sehen. Je nach Licht sind die Farben aber manchmal schwer zu unterscheiden. Gut macht sich auch der neue gestufte Tempo-Regler und die neue Anordnung der Elemente.
Unpraktisch finde ich vor allem die breiteren Clip-Launch-Buttons - so wird es selbst mit großen Händen schwer, einhändig über die gesamte Matrix mit mehreren Fingern zu triggern. Die neue Anordnung der Kanal-Buttons Rec-Arm, Mute, Solo, XFade-Assign ist etwas unübersichtlich.
Insgesamt bin ich aber richtig glücklich mit der Mk2!

Bestes Plug-and-Play ever!

Hallo, wirklich ein super Teil, einfach per USB an den Rechner gehängt, eingeschaltet, Rechner hochgefahren, Ableton gestartet, Live-Session gestartet, das Ding hat direkt gefunzt! Keine Installation nötig, hatte vorher einen Microkontrol von Korg benutzt, da gab es aber immer wieder Probleme mit der Fadereinstellung. Respekt! Viele Parameter sind voreingestellt, die Buttons in der Matrix haben die gleiche Farbe wie am PC-Bildschirm, habe zwar noch nicht ganz geschnallt, wie die eigene Zuweisung geht, ist nämlich nicht so wie bei Midi, dass z.B. Fader 1 immer nur für Spur 1 eingestellt ist, sondern die Fader "wandern" mit, wenn man die Matrix nach links oder rechts verschiebt. Du kannst die 8 Drehregler für jede Spur anders belegen, das ist schon fett. In Kombination mit guten Hardware Synths und Drummachines macht es jetzt richtig Spaß! Empfehlenswert!

PS: Ich arbeite nicht für Akai oder Ableton!

Super Controller

Ich bin begeistert, hier meine persönliche Meinung:
- Verarbeitung ist absolute Spitzenklasse, sehr stabil und gutes Design
- Endlosdrehregler laufen sehr geschmeidig mit angenehmen leichten Widerstand.
- Fader ebenso super, Crossfader sehr leichtgängig, so habe ich es mir gewünscht
- alle Taster haben einen guten, spürbaren Druckpunkt
- 8 x 5 Clip-Launch-Matrix-Taster durch RGB und breitere Tasten viel besser als beim Vorgängermodell
- eine 8 x 8 Clip-Launch-Matrix wäre allerdings noch besser gewesen

Alles in allem ein Super Controller, perfekt für Ableton live zu einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung!

Spass pur!

Bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Kauf meines Akai APC 40 Mk2. Die Verarbeitung ist hervorragend und alle Tasten, Fader und Regler fühlen sich hochwertig an. Aufgrund seines intuitiven Aufbaues benötigt dieser Controller keine Gebrauchsanweisung und ermöglicht eines flüssiges Arbeiten von Anfang an.

Der einzige Nachteil meiner Meinung nach ist, dass das Gerät für ein Abmischen während einer Produktionsphase (sollte es nicht nur live benutzt werden) eher ungeeignet ist aufgrund der nicht automatisierten Fader.

Habe mir zusätzlich einen 40cm breiten Laptopständer mit einem Neigungswinkel von 10° gekauft, da es von Akai keine eigene Lösung gibt wie z.B. für die MASCHINE von NI.

Fazit: Mehr Controller für den Preis gibt es nicht! Klare Kaufempfehlung!
