Zultan's Raw cymbal series is characterised by its raw, earthy look, with the surfaces of the cymbals revealing the natural colour of the B20 bronze - deliberately avoiding the use of high-gloss polish. The Raw cymbals produce a dark, dry sound that blends perfectly with its musical surroundings, and they are the perfect choice wherever warm and unobtrusive cymbal sounds are what is needed. The cymbals are made in Turkey, the country in which the art of cymbal making is most highly developed – here, cymbal smiths who have been learning their craft for years use traditional methods to create high-quality, clean-sounding instruments.
Each Zultan Raw Series cymbal is hand-hammered and made from an alloy of 80% copper and 20% tin - this method means that the cymbals are thus all unique, but in the process of final tonal tuning, care is taken to ensure that the specified tolerances are met. Not lathing the cymbals results – on the one hand – in their special look, on the other hand in a controlled, slightly treble-reduced sound, which is characterised by a relatively short sustain. Thanks to these special sonic characteristics, there is no risk that the cymbals of the Raw series will dominate the music too much. The Raw SlapClap, consisting of three ultra-thin cymbals measuring 12", 14", and 16", generates a sound reminiscent of the handclap sounds of classic drum machines and can be integrated into both acoustic and electronic music settings.
Drummers from the genres of Pop, Fusion, Funk, and World Music need dynamic cymbals with a fast response that can blend subtly into different settings, and this is why the SlapClap from Zultan's Raw series is the perfect addition to an existing cymbal setup: It can be played with sticks, rods, brushes, or felt mallets, with the timbre and length of the sustain immensely variable depending on how the three cymbals are used and combined. And friends of hybrid drumming, in which acoustic and electro sounds are on an equal footing, will find the SlapClap to be the perfect match, thanks to its almost electronic sound.
To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm's practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.
The Zultan Raw SlapClap can be used flexibly – it's a real musical chameleon. Whether using it as a handclap effect when playing it together with the snare of an acoustic drum kit, as a second hi-hat positioned above the floor tom, or stacking the set's individual cymbals on top of other cymbals – there really are no limits to how creative drummers can get here. And with its versatile, modifiable sound, the SlapClap can add some interesting, even surprising, colour to more traditional or experimental percussion sets, too. Live drummers who need a handclap effect for one or two songs can leave their sound module and all its cables at home and focus entirely on performing with their acoustic drum kit.
