Raw look, warm sound

The cymbals in Zultan's Raw series are characterised by their raw, earthy look. The surfaces of the cymbals reveal the natural colour of the B20 bronze: The absence of a clean, polished finish is a very deliberate design decision here. All the Raw cymbals have a dark, dry response that melds perfectly with the rest of the kit – and the band – so they're perfect whenever musicians want warm, unobtrusive cymbal sounds. The cymbals are made in Turkey, the country in which the art of cymbal making is most highly developed and where cymbal smiths who have spent their lives perfecting their craft use traditional methods to create high-quality, beautifully musical instruments.

Zultan 22" Raw Jazz Ride Cymbal

In tune with the music

Each cymbal in the Zultan Raw series is made from 80% copper and 20% tin – the premium B20 bronze alloy used for really high-end cymbals. Each piece is hand hammered, making every cymbal unique: Great care is taken during final tuning to ensure that the specified tonal tolerances are met. Not lathing the cymbals results, on the one hand, in their appealingly unusual look, on the other hand in a compact, slightly treble-reduced sound with a relatively short sustain. Thanks to these special acoustic characteristics, there is no risk that the cymbals of the Raw series will ever dominate the track they're played on. The Jazz Ride is slightly lighter than the regular 22" ride from the Raw series and offers a deep, musical and yet unobtrusive and compact sound with reduced overtones.

Zultan 22" Raw Jazz Ride Cymbal

From Jazz to Electro and back again

Drummers from the genres of Pop, Fusion, Funk, and Jazz need dynamic cymbals with a fast response that are capable of blending homogeneously into different settings: The 22” Jazz Ride is perfect for the task. Equally amenable to being played with sticks, rods, or brushes, it's capable of a great variety of sounds – just as you would expect from a good Jazz ride, the cymbal can also be used for crash accents. Fans of hybrid drumming, in which acoustic and electronic sounds are on an equal footing, often prefer cymbals with dry sound characteristics, and this is one of the key features of the Raw series. As such, the 22" Jazz Ride is sure to perform here as well.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Mics love it Raw

The 22" Zultan Raw Jazz Ride can be used flexibly and has virtually no musical limitations, although it's probably not best suited to the very loudest styles. But thanks to this moderate volume and its balanced frequency spectrum, the Raw Jazz Ride is actually a perfect studio cymbal, where it's best for a balanced mix if the drum mics pick up the cymbals as little as possible. Equally, even in locations with difficult acoustics, for example in halls with very high ceilings or in cold, boxy rehearsal rooms, the 22" Jauu Ride, like all of the other cymbals of the Raw series, delivers very reliable results.

A great cymbal
Montgomery De Lans III 27.05.2021
This is the first Zultan cymbal that I have bought. (I'm awaiting delivery of a 22 inch Q ride and anticipate it to be as satisfying as the Raw Jazz). The quality of the Raw Jazz is extremely good, given the price. This is not the loudest of cymbals, but then it's branded as a Raw Jazz Ride and so it's to be expected that the ping isn't so defined. I really love this cymbal. For the price charged, the sound is pleasing and complex and really does suit jazz playing. I have drumming friends who have bought this genre of cymbal from more expensive brands and the Zultan cymbal holds its own perfectly relative to these. I used this cymbal in studio recordings last year and it recorded beautifully.

Soft, dark, deep and mellow
Aur el 24.05.2020
I have had this cymbal for two years and I like the sound more and more. It's soft, dark, deep and mellow. The only little "negative" point is that the ping is not very bright but I think this is normal for a light cymbal like this one. The sound seems to improve more and more over time, like a pro :) I love it!

Very happy with this ride
DietVgwn 27.02.2021
So being hard-hitter i mostly enjoyed rock and metal cymbals. I decided to become a more versatile drummer and figured i might as well buy some jazz cymbals and a smaller kit. I had my eyes on some Istanbul gear, because that stuff sounds very good. Ofcourse i wanted to cut some cost, Istanbul doesn't come cheap. I did some research on youtube when i came across Zultan and watched some videos. I figured "why the hell not" and gave it a go.

I love it my dudes.

A nice reminder for myself that gear doesn't always have to be expensive. This is more than just a good ride, it's very good! Sounds dry, has a nice wash and a dark bell. Totally matches it's description... I am so pleased with this cymbal. If Zultan keeps the quality up and the prices lower than their competition they havn't had the last purchase from me.
