Affordable studio-quality reference sound

Not without reason, the Yamaha HS series are among the best-selling active nearfield monitors in their category worldwide. The HS 5s are a high-performance bi-amplified system consisting of a 1" tweeter and an 5" woofer, driven by separate 25W and 45W amplifiers and housed in neatly crafted bass-reflex cabinets. Thanks to a well-thought-out design based on the manufacturer's decades of experience, the speakers are able to develop their full potential without any significant colouring at high volumes. The result is a high-quality reference sound, present throughout the entire HS series, which is both natural-sounding and balanced across the audible spectrum - and all at a distinctly affordable price.

Perfect for small spaces - but not exclusively!

Yamaha specifies a frequency response of 54Hz to 30kHz - an impressive feat indeed given the HS 5's 5" woofer, the smallest in the series. This makes it the ideal candidate for small spaces which can often reflect too much bass. Of course, the HS 5 can also be combined with the compatible Yamaha HS 8S subwoofer. The "Room Control" and "High Trim" functions provide the speaker with dedicated EQs, one for bass and one for treble, so that the necessary corrections can be made, for example, when the speaker is placed directly against a wall.

Heb de monitoren uitgebreid getest en gebruik ze om te mixen en op te patchen. Hele rijke en fijne sound, erg neutraal en hele fijne bas response. Ging een wereld voor me open toen ik deze boxen aansloot en dat terwijl ik van High Def hoofdtelefoon kom. Aanrader voor wie een neutrale studiomonitor zoekt met een rijke bas en aanpasbare bas en treble settings.

Dit is mijn aller eeste monitor speaker en bij het onvangen van dit product was ik erg blij. Ik weet niet veel van audio maar tijdens het mixen is nu alles veel beter te horen en duidelijker te herkenen dan toen ik op mijn vorige speakers dit deed. Ze waren niet te duur en hebben in de korte tijd dat ik ze heb zeer geholpen met mijn luisteren van muziek.

2 monitors aangeschaft in combinatie met de Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 3rd Gen. Om daarmee met mijn gitaar/fractal AX8 op te nemen. Maar ook om op zolder muziek af te spelen. En het klinkt echt supergoed. Mooie balans, verhouding, en op de achtherkant kun je nog het een en ander fijner afstellen. Ben vooral op de keus voor deze monitors gekomen via onderzoek op internet, en ik kan niet anders zeggen dat ik het eens ben met de reviews.

Simpel en doet het gewoon

Niets aan te merken. Als je ze als studio monitoren wil en je wil ook de bas frequenties duidelijk horen moet je niet hier zijn of een subwoofer erbij halen, maar het doet wat het belooft, geen klachten.
Misschien wel even een paar 1/4'' jack kabels bij bestellen als je niet backups hebt liggen.
