An elegant fretless four-string

Warwick RockBass Streamer Neckthru 4 Fretless Natural, fretless bass guitar

The Warwick RockBass Streamer NT I 4 FL NTHP is an elegant natural beauty – a bass built for smooth, expressive playing, with a fretless fingerboard that lets bassists glide through their grooves with pinpoint intonation. At its heart is a neck-through maple construction, providing rich, long-lasting sustain; the alder body adds warmth and balance to the Streamer's tone, while still keeping things crisp and clear. The fingerboard is made from dark tigerstripe ebony, a wood whose hardness means the strings respond with extraordinary clarity. Every detail of this unique character is captured by the Streamer FL's pair of active pickups, one J-style and one P-style. Combined with the blend dial and active two-band EQ, musicians have complete control, not just cutting the lows and highs, but actively boosting them to dial in the perfect tone.

Long scale for power, two-piece bridge for stability

Even just looking at the specs, the Warwick RB Streamer NT I 4 FL NTHP has clearly been built for a life of hard work. With its 864mm long-scale neck, it delivers tight, punchy tone and precision across the board. This is complemented by the 38.5mm nut width, which makes fast, clean runs a breeze. As it should be on a fretless instrument, the fingerboard has clearly been finished with particular care. Up top, there's Warwick's own Just-a-Nut III, a fully adjustable nut made from ultra-durable synthetic tedur. Down at the bridge, there's the two-piece Warwick 3D Bridge, which gives bassists endless scope to tweak their action and intonation. Working together, nut and bridge keep the Streamer's tuning rock-solid.

For ambitious amateurs and seasoned pros

For bassists who are after the fluid feel and singing intonation that only a fretless bass can deliver, the Warwick RockBass Streamer NT I 4 FL SBHP is an ideal choice, both for accurate recordings in the studio or for nightly work on stage. With its active pickups and onboard EQ, this is a bass with a wide tonal palette to play with, making it a solid choice for experienced amateurs and professionals alike, as well as upright bass players. Thanks to its typically fretless timbre and rugged build, it's right at home in both classic and modern Jazz, as well as more experimental Rock and Metal songs. With its standard long-scale neck, it's especially comfortable for players with larger hands: Beginners might find the fretless setup a bit challenging at first, and younger or smaller players could struggle with the neck length.

About Warwick

Based in Markneukirchen, Saxony, Warwick, initially a manufacturer of premium basses, is known today for providing a wide range of music equipment in all sectors of the industry. The product range extends from bass guitars, bass amplifiers and cabinets (in all price brackets), bass strings and accessories, to effects units. In addition to this core business, the Warwick Distribution sales company offers almost everything that bass players, whether of four, six or even more string instruments, could require. Among them are the instruments of the Framus brand, which are remarkable for their consistently high quality. In addition to its headquarters in Markneukirchen, Warwick also has locations in Nashville and Shanghai.

From the studio to the arena tour

In the studio, the Warwick RockBass Streamer NT 4 FL NTHP really shines thanks to its onboard EQ, which is perfect for dialing in a solid, record-ready sound at source. But with its reinforced neck construction and secure strap locks, the Streamer NT is also reliable enough for heavy gigging and long sets. And whether the band is heading to a club gig, an open-air festival, or out on tour: The familiar RockBass build quality and durable materials will always hold up on the move and in new venues, even when other instruments might throw in the towel. Weighing in at around 4.3 kg, it's light enough not to become difficult to play through extended performances. From deep, solid low-end grooves to the smooth, expressive tones of a fretless, this instrument gives bassists a wide, dynamic spectrum to explore, even when they're playing solos.

Excellent modern sounding fretless
Anoniem 14.02.2022
The woods (esp ebony fingerboard) are excellent as is the construction. The pickups and preamp are top notch. The bass is light, well balanced and resonant. The neck is really skinny and comfortable. The bass plays well and sounds great; excellent sustain, bright with awesome midrange growl. MEC pick-up are surprisingly warm and uncompressed sounding for active and are really punchy. The truss rod and free tool are really easy to use, the free strap locks are a nice bonus and the adjustable nut is genius.

The finish is high gloss and very thick and doesn't look as nice close up as the satin finish on the higher end instruments. Some people might not like the gloss finish on the neck. The body isn't as smoothly sculpted as the more expensive offering, it has some hard edges, but is still comfortable to play. Both are about what you'd expect for the price point.

The two piece bridge looks cool, but is over complicated and a pain to adjust.

The tuners are cheap and nasty. Disappointingly so for the price point.

All in all, sounds really good and plays well which is what really matters. Don't think you'll find anything better for the money.
