Affordable orchestra percussion

The Thomann THM3.0 Marimba is a compact practice marimba with a three-octave range from C1 to C4 (international: C4 to C7) and features tone bars made of a wood called pao rosa (swartzia fistuloides), which originates in southeast Africa and has - as the name suggests - a pink-to-reddish brown colour with veins of yellow running through it. This wood is very dense, hard, and virtually unsusceptible to warping - properties that make it an excellent tonewood. Especially worthy of mention is that the Thomann THM3.0 Marimba is equipped with resonators, a feature that is not to be taken for granted even on significantly more expensive beginner models.

Compact dimensions and impressive features

The Thomann THM3.0 Marimba can be assembled and dismantled easily, is height adjustable, and has four lockable rubber castors. Because its tone bars are slightly smaller at just 32mm in width, the whole instrument only measures around a metre in length. The marimba can be played with two or four mallets, as preferred, and the THM3.0 comes with a pair of medium hard mallets so you can start playing those first notes right after unboxing and assembling the instrument. The aforementioned resonators under the sound bars not only amplify the sound but also give the instrument its typical warm tonal character.

Great introductory instrument

Compared to other entry models, the Thomann THM3.0 Marimba comes at an unbeatably low price - and its shape and dimensions are unique on the market. It is aimed exclusively at young musicians between six and eight years old who are often too small to even see over the top of an adult-sized marimba, let alone reach all the notes, and its design - with smaller tone bars and a height that can be set as low as 62cm - makes it perfect for children. Another plus is that parents who are not sure whether their child will keep playing the instrument in the long term will not have to spend a lot of money on this one.

About Thomann percussion instruments

In addition to products from more renowned companies, Thomann now also dedicates a large proportion of its range to instruments that bear the store’s own brand name and are manufactured by well-known and long-established companies. These include percussion instruments – from shakers and cajons through to handpans and drums authentically made in Africa – that offer an unbeatable price-performance ratio and are the perfect choice for students, beginners, and many others. These are characterised by features and materials normally found at much higher price points as well as by a thoroughly convincing sound.

For home or classroom use

Thanks to its comparatively compact dimensions, the THM3.0 will fit into virtually any children's room, even alongside a drum set, electric piano, or other instruments they may already have. This marimba will also fit through normal-sized doorways without having to be taken apart, and its castors make it easier to move around inside your house or apartment. And should it need to be dismantled for a longer journey (for a performance at a family gathering, for example), it can be dismantled and put together again quickly. What is more, the Thomann THM3.0 Marimba is great for primary schools, where it will take up only a minimum of space in the classroom when not in use.
