Expertly crafted from specially selected bamboo

In line with the aesthetic standards of this family of instruments, the Thomann Bansuri has a stripped-back design. There is no mouthpiece, just a simple blow hole positioned horizontally above the finger holes. Made from raw bamboo and with coloured cord wound around the ends and the body of the flute in keeping with age old traditions, this model in G has seven finger holes, and its unique aesthetic is due to the instrument being made entirely by hand by local craftsmen. Designed using ancestral methods, it can be played solo or as part of a Bansuri orchestra, creating perfect harmony in the ensemble.

Trickier to play than it looks

A crucial factor when choosing this instrument is the generous spacing between the finger holes: This model does not suit children's fingers and is aimed principally at adults. The flute's timbre is soothing and a perfect addition to meditative, transcendental music. Despite its apparent simplicity, however, the Bansuri allows musicians to explore a wealth of techniques and sounds. Sliding the fingers and adjusting the angle of the breath allows access to micro-intervals largely unexplored in Western music. The instrument also lends itself to glissando, although practice makes perfect in order to master all the subtleties of this flute.

My 1st bansuri flute. Very well made & looks really nice.
I can't comment too much on the sound quality as I'm a beginner & it takes time to master it, but when I do get the notes correctly, it's got a lovely sound to it. Well worth the price.

well made and good sound but as a new player it might be better to start with a smaller size to master the finger holes.

Le son est chaud et juste ainsi que le réglage dans les montées d'octave.
Le produit est bien fini livré dans un étui en tissu. Il demande un entrainement pour pouvoir bien boucher les trous avec la deuxième phalange mais avec des mains taille moyenne c'est possible (pas pour de petites mains je pense). J'avais initialement pris le modèle en D mais impossible à jouer pour mes mains de taille moyenne. Je suis très satisfait de cet achat.
