Affordable, studio-quality condenser mic
The t.bone SC 600 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with two switchable polar patterns – cardioid and omnidirectional – built around a back-to-back arrangement of two gold-sputtered 1" diaphragms. The cardioid setting focuses on the source directly in front of the capsule, rejecting room reflections and off-axis noise; the omni setting captures sound from all directions equally, useful for room recording, ensemble capture, or any situation where the acoustic environment is part of the sound. A 100Hz high-pass filter at 6dB/octave reduces low-frequency rumble and handling noise, and the elastic shock mount keeps mechanical vibrations out of the signal path. A protective pouch is also included.

One capsule, two polar patterns
The SC 600's back-to-back dual diaphragm design is what makes the pattern switching possible – each diaphragm faces in the opposite direction, and the cardioid/omni selection determines how their outputs are combined. The frequency response runs from 30Hz to 20kHz, linear through the low and mid frequencies with a deliberate dip in the upper mids that prevents brightness from tipping into harshness – particularly useful in the omni setting where room reflections could otherwise accumulate. Self-noise is 8.7dB(A) in cardioid and 10.2dB(A) in omni – impressively low figures for a microphone at this price point, giving the SC 600 enough headroom to handle both quiet acoustic sources and loud instruments without noise floor intrusion. With a sensitivity of 13.9mV/Pa and an output impedance of 120 ohms, it connects cleanly to any standard mic preamp with 48V phantom power.

The SC 600 is aimed at home studio owners, project studio engineers, and content creators who want a versatile large-diaphragm condenser without the price of a boutique microphone. The dual-pattern design adds genuine utility – a single mic that covers focused vocal and instrument recording in cardioid and room or ensemble capture in omni is a practical advantage in a small studio where mic choices are limited. The trade-off is the absence of a pad switch, which means very high SPL sources above 132dB are outside its range – though few studio sources will reach that ceiling. Build quality is solid for the price bracket, with the metal housing and grille protecting the capsule in everyday studio use.
