A multifunctional active monitor
The MA120 MKII is a two-way active monitor from Thomann's in-house brand the box: As such, its offers unbeatable value for money and is designed for flexible use in as many settings as possible. This mid-sized model - the series has several similar units - is equipped with a 12" bass speaker for a balanced sound, and the woofer and the tweeter are driven by a 120W output power amp. The trapezoid speaker unit is fitted with a black felt outer covering, and weighs in at 17kg (about 37.5lbs). To make the MA120 MKII even easier to use, all of the sockets and switches are located on the front of the speaker, eliminating the need to constantly grope around at the back of the unit.

Fully equipped
The MA120 MK II from the box offers two separately adjustable input connections for line and microphone signals, with both sockets in XLR format. This allows a mic to be connected directly; if required, the MA120 can also be fed the output signal from a mixing console. A peak LED helps users keep an eye on excessive input levels to prevent clipping. The active monitor also has a three-band equaliser, which can be used to adapt the final sound output to each user's needs and sound preferences: The fixed operating frequencies of the three bands are 100Hz, 500Hz, and 10kHz. Another useful feature is the automatic standby function, which can be activated as and when it is needed, and is useful for saving power during longer breaks in play.

For monitoring and sound reinforcement
Thanks to its 12" bass speaker, the MA120 MKII offers a frequency response of 80Hz to 16kHz (-3dB), producing a balanced sound without too much bass. In addition to its use as a monitor, the MA120 MK II can also be used as a sound reinforcement system for smaller events, with the integrated flange making it easy to mount on a stand. If users want to set up a sound system with more than one loudspeaker, the output signal can also be forwarded to another active or passive speaker via the MA120's XLR line output or NL4 speaker output.

Straight from rehearsal to the stage
The MA120 MKII from the box is perhaps best suited to life as a monitor – be it on stage or in a rehearsal room – especially for singers who value a clear and balanced sound. But its additional features, like the dedicated mic socket and the ability to connect another speaker, also make it an ideal device for solo artists on stage. No further effort or apparatus is required to attach a vocal mic and keyboard, for instance; the volume of each piece of gear can even be adjusted individually. If it is set up facing the audience, the MA120 MKII makes an ideal sound reinforcement unit, and if necessary another speaker – perhaps a slightly smaller one – can easily be connected to serve as an additional monitor.
