World-class headphones for pro DJs

The Technics EAH-DJ 1200 headphones are a worthy successor to the popular RP-DJ 1200 model from way back in 1996 – and they're just as well suited to the demanding DJ lifestyle. That both items bear the model number 1200 is no coincidence: Technics has always reserved this designation for particularly enduring DJ products, first and foremost the legendary SL-1200 turntables. Compared to its predecessor, the EAH-DJ 1200 features some decisive improvements, such as the new 40mm CCAW voice coils for a very balanced overall sound, better external noise shielding, and a replaceable and lockable cable. Of course, Technics has kept the unique 270-degree swivelling mechanism for unparalleled user comfort.

Flexible comfort and perfect sound

The most impressive feature of the EAH-DJ 1200 headphones is the unique 270-degree swivelling ear pads. This mechanism allows the headphones to be adjusted with peerless flexibility for every head shape and every use case, even when listening with just one ear. And the soft padding ensures a comfortable fit, even during long sessions on the decks or in the studio. In recent years, Technics has increased its focus on the audiophile market segment, a decision from which the EAH-DJ 1200 also benefits: The sound is nicely balanced and impressively clear, without any appreciable distortion – even at the high volumes which are commonplace in the DJ booth (though of course they are equally suitable for studio use).

Ideal for pro DJs and audiophiles

Since 1996, professional DJs have sworn by this model's predecessor – the RP-DJ 1200. Now, Technics has created a worthy successor in the form of the EAH-DJ 1200, which simply does everything a little better. These headphones are aimed at DJs who need professional equipment and aren't willing to sacrifice either sound quality or comfort. However, music lovers who are simply looking for great sounding, lightweight headphones with a particularly flexible, customisable fit are bound to be thrilled with the EAH-DJ 1200. The excellent bass response makes the headphones ideal for electronic music, but their balanced sound is equally suited to more analogue, organic genres. Naturally, the new Technics headphones feature the single-sided cable connection that all DJs demand, too.

About Technics

Technics was created as a brand for premium hifi equipment by the Japanese Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. in 1965. The brand wrote its name in the history books with the launch of its flagship SL-1210 MK2 record player in 1978, which soon played a pivotal role in shaping DJ culture and became the most iconic DJ turntable of all time. Scratching and beatmixing would probably never have been invented without the innovative features of the "wheels of steel". Technics suddenly disappeared from the scene in 2010, and did not return until 2014 when the Panasonic Corporation decided to revive the brand. After initially launching high-priced versions of its legendary 1200 turntable series, Technics finally presented the SL-1200 MK7 turntable and the EAH-DJ 1200 headphones in 2023 to provide DJs with modern, updated versions of classic products that had long been awaited with great anticipation, and to revive the renowned Technics tradition across the entire DJ community.

Versatility meets reliability

DJs need robust headphones that they can rely on, whatever life throws at them. Whether producing new tracks, previewing a playlist on the way to a gig, performing all night in a club or in the rain at a festival – a DJ's headphones are among their most trusted and personal possessions. Many DJs still swear by the sound, look, and feel of the classic Technics RP-DJ 1200, and with the new EAH-DJ 1200, Technics is bringing back these coveted headphones with many significant new functions – plus all the great features that cemented their predecessor's legendary status in DJ culture. This is part of the appeal that make the effortlessly stylish Technics EAH-DJ 1200 an excellent choice purely as lifestyle headphones.

Perfect DJ heaphones. Not the best sound though.

They upgraded the sound quality a little bit, but this still is nothing more than simply one of the best dj headphones. You will not get the best sound with these headphones, but if you're coming from the previous "Made in Japan" Gen, you will be pleased to find the highs are crisper and a lot more accurate. The iconic swivel design has remained unchanged for the better part of the last 3 decades. Alas , these are no longer made in Japan, but China, while they remain relatively expensive. The upgraded combi (coiled+straight) cable is a very nice touch. Probably the most comfortable set for dj-ing, unless your head is VERY big.

They sounds well and powerful enough speaking about djs headphones, it does have punch and feels well on the low ends, high ends it feels just „what ever“ . I am deeply disappointed about the plastic quality material, just it feels cheap and that is gonna break in few years or anytime. Defenetly are good headphones they sound well enough for dj‘s only, i wouldn’t listen music though on that headphones. They arw good only for dj‘s purposes.

The only logical upgrade coming from RP-DJ1200's
JONESYdj 06.09.2025
Been using Technics RP-DJ1200 headphones for the past 20 years. And evem though they still work and were my daily driver, they became aesthetically unpleasing.
These sound better and have the advantage of the removable cable.
The pouch is of lower quality though...
