I ordered the Synergy SYN-20IR Combo as soon as I found it was released (NAMM 20206). For some time, I was looking for a tube amp with XLR out and I already knew I like the 2 channel Tone King Imperial sounds. I was very pleased when I found out Thoman had these already in stock. The amp arrived within 2 days and was securely packed. You will need to buy a Synergy module with the combo. I bought the Synergy Tone King Imperial MKII 2-Channel Preamp Module. Excellent choice. Very happy with the sounds I got whenever I turn up my wet-dry-wet rig: the Synergy combo amp for my dry, two Line 6/Catalysts for my wet effects. I'm not a fan of the tremelo effect, as in: I'm not using that option a lot. However, I do like the fact that you have the option of a tremelo. What I like a lot, is that the Tone King Imperial module has two channels: whenever I want to increase gain (e.g. solo, more saturated), I kick on channel 3. I dialed in the 2nd channel for some juicy cleans with some character, sounds very good with my pedalboard. I'd like to add that channel 1 is the 'clean' channel that every Synergy module has and which I'm not using, simply because I find channel 2 and 3 of the Imperial module much better sounding. Is there nothing to complain about: of course there is! The module slot is fitted in an inverted way so if you stand in front of the amp, it's not that easy to see how you dialed it in. This is not a huge problem for me since after some time, I found my sounds for all of the channels and I will not be dialing it in anymore. Also, the rear panel of the module (facing down) contains the necessary inputs/outputs: it's very awkward to access these. Again, not a huge problem for me since I connected the XLR out into my mixer once and I won't be needing to do that again. However, if you need to access these inputs/outputs a lot, I would like to recommend you to buy the Synergy 20 IR head. Hope this review is helpful for you.
