Four in one
Distributing a single HDMI video signal to several playback or recording devices at the same time requires more than a simple cable, as the signal has to be actively split by an electronic device. The Swissonic HDMI Split 4K 1in4 is designed with precisely this purpose in mind, receiving the signal from an A/V source such as a camera or video mixer and distributing it to four separate HDMI outputs. Powered by the included mains adaptor, the splitter passes the signal on to monitors or capture cards without any loss of quality, making it a straightforward solution for multi-device setups. The unit supports the HDMI 1.4 standard and resolutions of up to 2160p30, corresponding to 4K video at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.

Connected in a heartbeat
With the HDMI input positioned on the side of the Swissonic HDMI Split 4K 1in4 and the four outputs located on the rear, the layout makes it easy to keep the connections organised and avoid confusing the source and destination sides. Once the cables are connected, the status LEDs on the front provide a clear overview of which outputs are currently carrying a signal. For users looking a little more closely at the technical specifications, the splitter also supports 3D video, Deep Colour, and signals with a colour depth of up to 12 bit. On the audio side, it is capable of transmitting DSD audio, as used for example by Super Audio CD, as well as HBR (High Bitrate Audio).
