With this powerful hazer from the in-house brand Stairville, Thomann has created a haze machine that boasts not only plenty of power for performances, but also flexible DMX inputs and lightning-fast set up. Its wide-dispersion output can either be set to run continuously or temporarily, with independent control of haze volume and fan activity. The flight case can be placed directly on the ground, as the with haze output itself is with height-adjustable; even on slight slopes are no problem for the Stairville HZ-1500 Pro Hazer DMX, as the fluid tank is securely fixed to prevent slippage.

Bring light beams to life

A three-litre tank, safely locked in place with a removable metal plate, makes this hazer well-placed (literally!) to take on any task. The unit – measuring 170x490x345mm, and weighing 16.45kg without fluid – can be positioned on any stage or surface with a gradient of up to 15%. It's ready for action only 50 seconds after connecting the 1450W heating unit to the mains power. And as should be clear from the name, the HZ-1500 Pro Touring Hazer DMX can be operated either by DMX – or simply using the buttons located below the device's small display.

For clubs and theatres

This hazer is designed for use on medium-sized or large stages, with its effective diffusion rate of 12ml per minute. The HZ-1500 Pro Touring Hazer DMX allows nightclub event managers to bring spotlight beams to life by creating stunning effects, with interval mode handling haze pauses and output timing automatically. Theatre producers stand to benefit most from the unit's quiet operation, when using the moderate fan setting. And the robust case with its carrying handle means the HZ-1500 is ready for the road – or wherever it's needed. Bands on tour, for example, can easily connect their own HZ-1500 to each new venue's DMX wiring thanks to the device's 3-pin and 5-pin DMX sockets.

Since it was introduced in 1994, Thomann's in-house brand Stairville has been a permanent fixture in the store's product range. The brand primarily focuses on the field of stage lighting in general, and its products include spotlights, moving lights, and theatre lighting as well as smoke machines, electronic control systems, and every other accessory you can think of. This hazer can be positioned on almost any surface, even those with a slope of up to 15%, and thanks to its powerful output, users can place the robust case in the most unobtrusive spots. Ideally suited for use in this pro-grade hazer is the Stairville PHF Pro Haze Fluid, sold in an economical 5-litre canister; the fluid produces a particularly fine haze with impressive reflective properties. Operating the hazer via DMX only requires two channels: The first one controls the output, the second one takes care of the fan intensity. Particularly impressive special effects can be created by connecting a long hose to the dedicated connector above the haze outlet – ideal for theatre productions, for example.

Overall a good machine

I was fed up with malfunctioning cheaper units so I thought I'd invest in a quality machine. The only minus is the operational noise level. For large venues it will not be a problem but for small venues the constant compresser ? noise will prove an annoyance. For the money I would have expected it to be quieter.

This machine is overpriced garbage

The fan is incredibly loud, even when it is idling. The fan speed doesn’t adjust, it seems to only have one speed. The contiguous haze output is also a joke and hardly has any control. Don’t buy this if you are in spfx and work on sound stages or close settings.
