Complete PGA set for the drums

The Shure PGA Drumkit 7 set provides everything needed to mike a standard drum kit. It includes a PGA52 for the kick, a PGA57 for the snare, three PGA56s for the toms, and two PGA81s for overheads. The set also comes with essential accessories to get started straight away: seven 4.6-meter XLR cables, three AP56DM break-resistant rim mounts for attaching the tom mics directly to the drum shells, and three A25D break-resistant clips for the snare and overhead microphones. For added convenience, the microphones are supplied with a case for safe transportation.

Quality drum sounds

The PGA52 kick drum mic is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid polar pattern that minimises feedback. Its contoured frequency response delivers robust bass performance and clear attack sound. The cardioid PGA56 tom mic, meanwhile, delivers a focused midrange punch that avoids the overly 'smacky' top-end associated with other cheaper drum mics. Its balanced frequency response (50Hz–15kHz) and subtle low-frequency roll-off enhance the body of the drum tone, providing a tighter sound that sits naturally in the mix. For the snare, the PGA57 dynamic microphone offers a cardioid pickup pattern and a frequency response of 70Hz - 15kHz, with a noticeable presence boost around 5kHz. The PGA81 overheads, on the other hand, are condenser microphones requiring 48V phantom power. With a cardioid polar pattern and a frequency range of 40Hz - 18kHz, they capture a clear and detailed sound. Together, the microphones in this kit deliver a dry and direct sound profile, making them particularly well-suited for live performances.

A good, affordable start!

The PGA Drumkit 7 is a complete microphone package ideal for drummers and bands looking to mike their drums for their first big performance. The only additional gear needed are stands for the snare, kick, and overhead microphones. While targeted at newcomers, the set delivers impressive professional-grade sound quality at an accessible price point, making it an excellent choice for those on a budget seeking a reliable and complete microphone solution from Shure.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. They enjoy cult status among musicians and technicians alike. In the 1990s, Shure introduced the first wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems and became a market leader in this field. In addition to microphones, Shure offers a wide range of earphones and headphones for studio and live use, as well as various accessories.

Live and in the studio

The PGA Drumkit 7 delivers a sound profile perfectly suited for live performances. Its dry, precise reproduction features punchy bass, focused mids, and crisp highs, giving almost any drumkit an exceptional sound that will captivate the audience. Rigorously tested, Shure have built these mics to withstand serious wear and tear. Thanks to their robust metal construction, even accidental drum hits won't break them. The zippered carrying case will also keep the microphones safe during transport to and from venues. While ideal for live use, the PGA Drumkit 7 is also versatile enough for studio applications, making it a great choice for drummers and bands looking to begin their recording careers.
