With the PSA-1, Australian manufacturer Rode offers a professional table microphone boom arm with 360-degree swivel range in a solid, practical design that reliably holds in position microphones weighing between 700g and 1.1kg mounted on a 3/8" thread. The microphone arm offers more precise placement than a conventional table stand and, on top of that, it also has a more space-saving design, as it is attached directly to the tabletop by means of a screw clamp. The scope of delivery also includes a threaded desk insert for table mounting and a thread adapter for microphone mounts with 5/8" thread.

With spring-reinforced construction

The Rode PSA-1 microphone arm features a simple, elegant, black powder-coated construction with two arm sections that are articulated at three points and held under tension by a spring mechanism. The head, i.e. the microphone's attachment point, can be tilted, rotated, and locked via a handy winged screw, while the overall construction dispenses with further locking screws and is balanced by the spring mechanism and the microphone's weight. Since the PSA-1 does not have an integrated XLR cable, the model is also equipped with hook-and-loop fasteners to allow cables to be secured.

Always the right balance

The solidly constructed Rode PSA-1 has already impressed many users since its introduction. Despite the lack of locking screws on the joints, the PSA-1 easily balances microphones within the specified weight range so that positions can be held securely at any height. The tiltable, rotatable head makes it possible to align the microphone at any time, even when it is firmly screwed in place. Zeer tevreden na de eerste dagen gebruik

Na jarenlang een gewone mic stand te hebben gebruikt achter m'n desk is dit echt een verademing. De PSA-1 voelt heel degelijk aan en biedt eindelijk flexibiliteit en verbetert m'n workflow substantieel. Ik gebruik hem voornamelijk met een Shure SM7B, wat een vrij zware microfoon is, en hij houdt 'm heel mooi in balans.

De stand piepte een klein beetje vers uit de doos, maar niks wat een druppeltje WD40 niet kan oplossen. Goede levering van Thomann naar Nederland.

Ik gebruik de Rode PSA-1 nu ongeveer 1,5 jaar met verschillende microfoons en ik kan alleen maar zeggen dat ik zeer tevreden ben.

Zelfs toen ik een veel lichtere Sennheiser E835 S gebruikte, kon ik de schroeven wat aanpassen en bleef de arm beter in positie staan dan elke andere arm die ik hiervoor gebruikt heb. Ik heb op dit moment de Rode PodMic er aan hangen, even wat lichter schroeven en het werkt als een droom.

Gezien je microfoon armen voor een tientje of vijftien euro kan krijgen lijkt bijna honderd euro veel voor een microfoon arm, maar dit is echt een van de betere. Wat zwaardere microfoons kan je er gewoon aan monteren en het werkt, de arm verzetten is je microfoon pakken en naar je toe trekken; geen rare bewegingen of 10 centimeter verder omdat hij weer terug trekt. De bijgevoegde klitteband stripjes om je kabel aan de arm vast te maken zijn ook mooi mee genomen; juiste lengte en meer dan sterk genoeg. Kort om - Een aanrader als je serieuzere uitrusting wil kopen.

Best mic arm for the money

I was looking for a swivel mount boom arm for my Shure SM7B, and had seen this one in a couple of Youtube videos. After ordering it, I was not disappointed.

The build quality is excellent. It is spring loaded, which feels a bit weird when there is no weight (i.e. microphone) attached to it.
Rode provides two ways of attaching the arm to your desk. One with a desk clamp and one with an in-desk piece that requires you drill a hole in your desk. The clamp only fits an even, standard desk. My desk is a bit more exotic in design, so I had no choice but to drill a hole. Instructions were clear, so this was no problem at all.
As soon as there is weight on the arm, it feels very smooth and you can position your mic in any way you like.
It even comes with handy cable straps to keep the XLR cable nicely in place.
Of course there are out there that offer more features, or an even more robust build quality, but in this price range, you can't beat the Rode PSA-1. Recommended!

Doet wat het moet doen, maar kraakt.

Dit was het accessoire dat ik niet wist dat ik zo hard had gemist.

Bij online zoekbeurten kom je al snel uit op de Rode PSA-1. Of je gaat naar veel duurdere modellen of ze zijn niet zo stabiel.

Helaas kraakt hij/zit hij stroef bij het verticaal verplaatsen. Ga hem dus uit elkaar moeten draaien om wat te smeren. Iets wat ik niet had verwacht. Maar goed. Geen reden om terug te sturen.

Voor de rest doet hij prima wat hij moet doen. Uiterst handig.
