Professional pedalboards

The company RockBoard specialises in pedalboards, including accessories, and has been offering a wide range of professional-quality products in this field for many years. RockBoard's portfolio includes pedalboards in various sizes and price ranges, ensuring the right product for every guitarist and bassist. The DUO 2.3 is one of the smallest boards and essentially the entry point into the world of RockBoard. Nevertheless, the DUO 2.3 (available here as a bundle with a matching gig bag) boasts all the features and expansion options of its larger counterparts, including the same highly robust construction. The key attributes of the RockBoard DUO 2.3 at a glance: Compact, lightweight, solid, portable, and highly flexible.

A proper home for those pedals

Measuring 722 x 142mm (L x D), the RockBoard DUO 2.3 provides space for seven to eleven effects pedals, which are easily accessed and operated by foot courtesy of the 10° angled board surface. Produced from cold-rolled aluminium sheet, the board’s robust yet lightweight (approximately 1kg) construction is further reinforced with an additional support strut and can more than endure the rigours of life on tour. The black powder coating not only looks cool but is also resistant to external influences. A unique feature of the RockBoard pedalboard is the slot system, which allows pedals to be mounted with a single click. The RockBoard DUO 2.3 also features suitable slots or ports for connecting other accessories, such as power supplies and LED lights, and comes in a robust gig bag with sufficient quantities of self-adhesive hook and loop tape.

Creating space and order

As a player's pedal collection increases, so does the tangled weave of power and patch cables, where achieving a neat and space-saving pedal setup seems nigh on impossible. This is where the pedalboard comes in - bringing order to the user's effects pedal arrangement. The necessary power supply can be mounted underneath the board, with "underground" cable routing. The pedals themselves can be securely fastened in parallel using hook and loop tape or the click system. RockBoard's ultra-flat and flexible patch cables also prove helpful here. The DUO 2.3 is ideal for guitarists and bassists who prefer a manageable number of pedals, but also serves perfectly as a "second board", providing essential effects at home or for recording sessions.

Matching accessories

RockBoard not only offers a wide range of pedalboards but also practical accessories and expansion options, including the simple yet ingenious slot system, which allows pedals from renowned manufacturers such as MXR or BOSS to be "clicked" into the corresponding slot on the pedalboard. RockBoard also provides a power supply solution in the form of its proprietary Universal Power Supplies (UPS), which fit into the corresponding slots on the board or can be discreetly attached to the underside. For dark stages, RockBoard offers LED lights which simply screw into the port on the side of the board and are powered via the UPS. Additional accessories include pedal risers and step-ups for elevating one or more pedals, not to mention custom-fit cases and bags for RockBoard's pedalboard range.

A good Pedalboard - Duo2.3
Níck Soderi 06.08.2023
I purchased the RockBoard Duo 2.3 to replace my Pedaltrain Nano max. The reason for replacing it is because the power supply I use is quite thick and it requires the pedalboard to be taller between the floor and the board itself.
My pedaltrain had to go through some feet adjustments where I had remove them and attach them with longer screws and washers spacers to provide the correct distance between the floor and and power supply. Unfortunately, overtime, all feet start to become woobly and unfit to use.

Acquiring the RockBoard Duo 2.3 was initially the solution for my problem as itnis higher than my current Pedaltrain. Also because it is almost 2cm longer than the Pedaltrain Nano Max.

The RockBoard Duo 2.3 is great overall, with good metal quality. Unfortunately the RockBoard Duo 2.3 is not high enough for my need, so I had to again replace the feet for longer ones and higher feet. The good thing is that, as opposed to the Pedaltrain Nano Max that has bolted feet, not screwed, the RockBoard Duo 2.3 has a very decent feet screw base that is really sturdy and allows you to adjust, disassemble etc at ease with allen keys. That worked really well and I am pleased with it.

Points to be concerned:

- Just as the Pedaltrain, the RockBoard Duo 2.3 comes with a very cheap poor quality velcro that I will not use, if I want my Pedalboard to be reliable, so as always, I bought the 3M Velcro Lock, which is the best velcro to have your pedals attached to a Pedalboard.

- The softbag that comes with the RockBoard Duo 2.3 has very good quality materials, but unfortunately is very thin/shallow, and does not allow it to be zipped/closed. I have few normal size pedals, a Line6 HXStomp and an MXR talkbox, which is a bit high. In the end, I managed to have the RockBoard Duo 2.3 inside the Pedaltrain Nano Max softbag and worked perfectly. Point to Pedaltrain on this one.
