Bridging the gap

PSI Audio A23-M is a three-way monitor that bridges the gap between the manufacturer's two-way devices like the A21-M and their larger 3-way A25-M studio monitors. The A23-M combines PSI's tried-and-tested analogue technologies – such as the proprietary AOI (Adaptive Output Impedance) and CPR (Compensated Phase Response) systems – with an entirely new, hand-crafted midrange driver. For both the low and mid frequencies, PSI uses an unconventional amplifier type: Each frequency band is powered by its own Class G/H amplifier, providing better energy efficiency and lower distortion compared to traditional Class A/B designs. Another standout feature is the rotatable driver plate on both the tweeter and the midrange driver, making it easy for producers to adapt the A23-M to their specific studio setup.

Invested in development

The Adaptive Output Impedance function (AOI) adjusts the output impedance of the amplifiers in response to the active frequency and the movement of the diaphragms – which results in minimal colouration and excellent transient response. For precise stereo imaging with a high level of localisation, the Compensated Phase Response system (CPR) uses all-pass filters to achieve a constant group delay and compensate for phase differences. Finally, although the Class G/H amplifiers for the low and midrange frequencies are based on the Class A/B concept, they feature a more complex circuit topology. By using changing supply voltages that are activated in response to power demand, they reduce energy consumption.

Precise sound – no DSP

The PSI Audio A23-M is proof positive that a studio monitor can meet contemporary professionals' exacting standards without any form of digital signal processing. Building on the sonic strengths of the larger A25-M, the A23-M combines PSI's pioneering proprietary analogue technologies with an entirely new midrange driver, developed in-house: This gives the monitor even greater precision in the midrange. Additionally, the A23-M's compact cabinet size also makes it easier to integrate into existing mid-sized studio setups. Also notable, and a major plus, is the rotatable driver plate installed in both the tweeter and midrange driver; this feature allows the speaker to be perfectly configured whether it's used vertically or horizontally.

About PSI Audio

PSI Audio, a brand under Relec SA, is based in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. The company was originally founded in 1977 by Alain Roux as Roux Electroacoustique, specialising in Hi-Fi speaker development. In 1988, the company was restructured as Relec SA, expanding into PA and studio markets while producing both proprietary models and OEM products for renowned brands like Studer (1992–2003). The PSI Audio brand launched in 2004, offering premium studio monitors for professional users. These products are known for their fully analogue circuit designs and meticulous Swiss craftsmanship, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability for audio professionals.

For use in professional studios

The PSI Audio A23-M monitor is suitable for even the most demanding audio tasks in music production and post-production. Whether it's recording, sound design, mixing, or even mastering, its linear and transparent sound allows extremely accurate evaluation, letting producers take an analytical approach to all their creative and corrective decisions. Because every single A23-M unit is manually calibrated in an anechoic chamber, the acoustic response is guaranteed to be perfect. This also ensures seamless compatibility with the many other monitor and subwoofer models from PSI Audio, making the A23-A ideal for putting together full-range systems, as well as for multichannel applications such as surround sound and immersive audio.
