The right components for a well-balanced sound

The Presonus Eris E5 is fitted with a carefully designed and solidly built bass reflex cabinet made of vinyl-laminated MDF. As with all the Eris models, the woofers are made of Kevlar, producing a clean and precise bass response and even diffusion through all the lower frequencies. Similarly, the silk dome tweeter reproduces all the high frequencies in a very natural way and provides a wide sweet spot in the listening position. Two separate class AB amplifiers respectively provide 35 and 40 Watts of power to the tweeter and woofer. The Eris E5 is also available in an XT version, with a larger bass reflex cabinet and a waveguide for the tweeter.

Ideal for the home studio

The Presonus Eris E5 is a reliable, no frills, and affordable monitor, perfect for the home studio. We all know the complexities involved in improving the acoustics of a room, especially when the latter is not initially designed with music or postproduction in mind. The Eris E5's crossover section is a great help in this respect. Its switchable low-cut filter suppresses unwanted resonant low frequencies (for example when the speaker is placed close to a wall) and two continuous filters adjust the midrange and treble by plus or minus 6dB. In addition, the automatic "Acoustic Space" function cleans up the often critical low-midrange and ensures that the sound is reproduced as faithfully as possible.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Extensive connectivity

As a rule, a pair of Eris E5s are connected to the stereo analogue output of an audio interface or monitor controller. Each speaker is fitted with both a 6.3mm jack and an XLR input, thus eliminating the need for an adapter. The inputs are balanced and provide 4dBu of gain as a reference level, as is to be expected from studio equipment. Additionally, the Eris E5 is also fitted with an unbalanced -10dBV RCA input, which allows hi-fi equipment to be connected.

In de mijn ruimte klinken ze meer als fantastisch.

Heb de Eris E5 aangeschaft nadat de E3.5 toch een beetje power te kort kwamen voor mijn ruimte.

De E3.5 klonken wel fantastisch, zaggen er ook vreselijk goed in als ik kijk naar de Room EQ Wizard resultaten. Bijna compleet vlak. Maar ik hoorde dat ze een beetje moeite hadden mijn ruimte goed te vullen (ongeveer 18m²).

De E5's hebben meer als genoeg power, hebben grotendeels hetzelfde vlakke karakter in REW als de E3.5's.

In tegenstelling tot de E3.5's heb ik nu wel het idee dat ik iets meer aandacht moet gaan besteden aan de akoestische vormgeving van mijn ruimte (bij hogere audiovolumes).

Maar dolgelukkig blij met de klank, vormgeving en bouwkwaliteit.

Toch de tip voor de mogelijke koper, de E3.5/E4.5's zouden in een kleinere ruimte mogelijk een beter resultaat kunnen geven dan deze E5's als je geen akoestische behandeling in je ruimte hebt/wilt.

Prettige monitoren voor in m'n thuisstudio

Na het lezen en bekijken van diverse reviews heb ik de Eris E5 monitoren gekocht.
Ze klinken helder en natuurlijk en hebben voldoende volume voor de ruimte waar ik zit. (werkplek is 1.50 breed)
Via het bedieningspaneel aan de achterkant kun je de klank beïnvloeden naar gelang de positie van de monitoren.
Met deze monitoren mixt het veel prettiger dan met een koptelefoon en ook bij laag volume hoor ik goed wat er gebeurt.
Het enige wat iets minder goed wordt weergegeven is het echte laag. Maar dat is bij dergelijke (kleine) monitoren te verwachten.
Mogelijk ga ik nog sparen voor een T8 subwoofer voor onder het bureau, maar dat zal de tijd leren.
Dus vlak voordat de mix geëxporteerd wordt, even checken op m'n hoofdtelefoon of het laag ook goed zit.
Voor een kleine studio echt fijne monitoren en de prijs viel mij mee!

Ik was benieuwd, veel reviews gekeken op youtube eb gelezen van studio speakers, ik gebruik deze speakers om af te mixen en te masteren, ik had dit geluid nooit verwacht zo goed, echt haar zuiver mooi stereo effect die je af kan stellen naarmate hoe je de speaker postioneerd, ik gebruik ze wel met iso-pad 5 er onder! en veel features op de achterkant. gewoon een top produkt die boven mijn verwachting presteerd en prijs kwaliteit is ook echt top.

Great studio monitors for home studio!

I have been using these monitors since April 2017 and they are great! These are my first studio monitors but I have used a few others at friends (mostly krk). I love these monitors, the sound comes out very neutral, which works perfectly for mixing, mastering etc.
They look great and simple. They are not too big and fit on my desk perfectly. In terms of features, these monitors have a lot of useful features that I couldn't find on other monitors in the same price range. I use them with a Presonus audiobox USB and there is no latency or weird sounds coming out of them.
In terms of sound, they are really nice as they are neutral. The mids and highs are there every time and are clear and crisp. The bass is good but I would have liked them to be a bit more present. It is a 5" woofer so it won't give you an extensive amount of bass like 8" woofers but it does the job more than correctly.
They can get really loud so no worries about not getting enough sound out of these, especially in a home studio environment.

I recommend these monitors if you're looking for great studio monitors to start a home studio. They look great and they sound great and at this price point you won't find monitors with the same features.
