Great combo for home practice
Bobdahbass 21.03.2026
I am a hobbyist bass player, mostly playing at home to backing tracks, and I was looking for a small practice combo. This is the first Phil Jones product I've owned and I have been using it for a few months now. Before I bought the BE-17, I had an EBS Session 30 MK III for a few weeks, but it had Bluetooth interference, which was annoying. Compared to the EBS, the BE-17 is more expensive, but it is well designed, has a good build quality and I like the sound of it. It is clean and balanced with a decent low end for its size. It also retains the low ends at a low volume. The EQ is simple but effective, and the Bluetooth works perfectly without any interference. What I also like is that it has a second input that can be used in mono or stereo to connect another instrument like a drum machine. It has a headphone out for silent practice and it can be tilted which is a helpful feature for a combo that small. I don't think it is loud enough to rehearse with a drummer or for a small gig, but for home practice, this is a great product that I can recommend.

Small, Light & Good Output
Elfed 25.01.2025
For personal physical reasons I own & use a number of small Bass Amps incl PJ Nano Amp. Whilst I follow the technical argument for multiple small speakers I still prefer a bigger speaker. This Amp with a 7” speaker and tweeter is able to produce a warm soft Bass output and more treble attack output, Bass used to evaluate was a Spector Bantam 4. Given the size, weight and price tag I am very pleased with this Amp, in fact I prefer it over the Big 4 - personal choice. Also l, it fits nicely into a Gorilla 12” LP Hardshell case for safe & easy transport 😉
