A true all-rounder in pedal format

The Mooer GE300 offers guitarists an entire arsenal of individual devices – including modelling amp, multi-effects processor, looper, guitar synthesizer, and speaker cabinet simulations based on impulse responses (IR) – in a compact floorboard unit with a modern design that is suitable for both stage and studio applications. But it doesn't stop there: The GE300 also features a built-in expression pedal, an integrated USB audio interface alongside a suitable cable for quick audio recordings, and a clear, intuitive layout for easy programming. All this is perfectly complemented by Mooer's proprietary editor software, which can be downloaded and installed on a computer free of charge. The scope of delivery additionally includes the required adapter for connecting the floorboard modeller to a power source.

Functions and storage galore

Thanks to its high-performance dual signal processors, the GE300 allows a comprehensive effects chain to be freely configured and stored using no less than 108 amp models and 164 different effects. Users are also provided with 43 IR-based cab sims and 20 additional slots for uploading their favourite IRs. This all-in-one floorboard modeller also includes a looper with a stereo recording capacity of 30 minutes, a convenient tuner, comprehensive MIDI control options, and can even be used as a USB audio interface with a direct connection to a computer. Of course, the GE300 comes with all the required XLR outputs and a stereo FX loop that allow it to be integrated into a large variety of setups, and is particularly easy to program and use thanks to its intuitive layout, large colour display, ten colour-coded footswitches, and integrated expression pedal. This is perfectly complemented by Mooer's proprietary editor software as already mentioned above.

The GE300 is the ideal solution for guitarists who are looking for an all-in-one multi-effects pedal that is easy to use in the home studio, for recordings, or on stage, and immediately delivers excellent results thanks to numerous amp models, a wide variety of effects, and a particularly user-friendly design. On top of that, Mooer's intelligent Tone Capture function allows the frequency response of an input signal to be analysed and applied to the modelled amp signal as a special EQ to authentically simulate the tonal characteristics of the original. The GE300 features all the necessary headphone output and AUX input connections for quiet practice and jamming sessions, while its XLR outputs, MIDI connectivity, second pedal connection, FX loop, and built-in looper make it eminently suitable for a wide range of professional applications.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

In addition to delivering an entire signal chain from amp to miked-up cab, the versatile GE300 will also effortlessly take on individual sub-tasks as a standalone effects processor, flexible cab simulator, or simply for playing through a real amp. A particular stand-out feature of the GE300 that users will not find in any conventional pedal board is the integrated tri-phonic synthesizer module, which allows out-of-the-ordinary sounds to be created.

Mijn Marshal JCM800 meteen ge-captured in de GE300. Ik kan het verschil niet meer horen tussen het origineel en het ge-captured geluid.

Met de laatste firmware is er erg veel mogelijk. Zeer goede distortions. Goede bruikbare effecten en een eg goede Wha.

Great but not perfect

Let's get the things out of the way that I don't like:
GE studio is a mess. It's not exactly self-explanatory and understanding how things work takes a lot of time. There are no descriptions, no online help and not everything is obvious and easy to understand. And doing the wrong thing can be hard to undo.
MIDI CC outgoing works only for patches. Expression pedals and other foot switches don't send CC messages, that's pretty disappointing
You need a lot of light to even see the labels on the device. Changing things on the fly? You better know what is what by heart.
Changing stuff through the buttons on the device can be a tedious process, although some things are only accessible that way, like expression pedal calibration

Apart from that it's a great device. Compact, robust, sounds pretty great to my ears and has all the connectors I need, for every scenario imaginable. I've replaced BIAS FX2/Amp2 with this and while I've lost a little bit of functionality (the GE300 does 2 OD/Boost/Distortion pedals max) it was more than worth it.

Great product, great interface on the machine but horrible software

All in all, a great budget option if you want a "premium modeller". It sounds fantastic, the unit's interface is the best and the most intuitive out of all the modellers I've used (Quad Cortex, Helix, Ampero), but...
Software is a bit hit and miss. The PC editor looks and feels really cheap, looks like a mid 90's program with almost no visual representation of different amps, cabs and effects.

And don't get me even started on getting the software to work. There's a big chance that your browser won't even let you download the drivers, because it registers them as virus. Also, the software won't work if you download the latest edition. You have to download ALL the editions and then install them in order. Also, sometimes the updates aren't available on the English site, so you have to download them from the Chinese site.
