The Mackie Thump Sub GO is a portable subwoofer that can run for up to six hours on its rechargeable battery, as well as via a standard IEC mains cable. On top of this flexibility, the rear panel also provides a number of useful features to ensure optimum sound quality, however the sub's used – including a High Pass Mode (for when it's combined with top speakers) which passes signal components above 150Hz through the two output sockets on the back. In practice, this means that bands or other performers can install a fully battery-powered, wireless compact PA system – comprising this sub, two Mackie Thump GO tops, and the Mackie ProFX10 GO live mixer – that's capable of projecting clear, high-quality audio to an audience of up to 100 people in virtually any location.
This compact, portable subwoofer is equipped with two 8" woofers driven by an internal Class D amplifier that delivers 400W of power, while the drivers produce bass all the way down to 32Hz, with an impressive sound pressure level of 123dB SPL. The rear panel includes a volume control for adjusting output level, and an overload LED warns gives users a heads up to adjust their levels if clipping becomes a problem. The analogue input is flexible thanks to the Thump Sub's XLR combo sockets, so musicians can hook up both XLR and jack cables – or input a signal wirelessly with the Bluetooth connection. If any unwanted phase cancellations or overlaps occur in the subwoofer's frequency response, these can be corrected by adjusting the phase control. The Mackie Thump Sub GO can play audio in stereo or mono, and the front panel power status LED can be switched off independently for even more atmosphere.
The Mackie Thump Sub GO is the ideal solution for live shows where a reliable power supply isn't always guaranteed – or even possible. And after six hours of uninterrupted use, a second Mackie GB-200 battery (sold separately) can simply be inserted into the subwoofer's second battery slot, allowing up to 12 hours of continuous operation, which should be enough for some really epic parties. With the footprint of a desktop PC and a weight of no more than 19kg, the Thump Sub can be carried easily and comfortably, thanks too to its sturdy handle. Users can set it up horizontally, but also upright to save even more space. All this flexibility makes it possible to put on dependable and dynamic performances on the beach, at a street music festival, or in the park.
In 1988 Greg Mackie, already a successful co-founder of a pro audio company, founded Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of producing affordable, high-quality mixers. The company's first official product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was initially produced within the four walls of his home. As sales figures were encouraging, its successor model CR-1604 soon followed - and in 1991 the company finally moved into its first proper production facility. The combination of reliable quality and low prices quickly brought the company enormous success, so that by 1995 Mackie had already sold 100,000 products. In 2003, the company was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC so that there is no longer any confusion between the Mackie brand and its former parent company of the same name.
The Mackie Thump Sub GO is part of the manufacturer's larger GO series and can be paired with the Mackie Thump GO speakers, contributing a powerful low end to a portable PA setup: The speakers also run on their built-in batteries and are perfectly tuned to work with the sub. When it's used horizontally, the Thump Sub's M20 threaded socket allows a spacer pole to be fitted for mounting a top speaker. The GO range also includes a live mixer, the Mackie ProFX10 GO, which is also battery-powered, of course, and equipped with bidirectional Bluetooth for wireless input and output. This makes a full-range PA setup without any cables or wires a reality, as all models, including the Mackie Thump Sub GO here, can receive signals via Bluetooth. A completely battery-powered, Bluetooth-capable audio system – for effortless reliability and electrifying sound at gigs, parties, and performances absolutely anywhere.
