Between the Prologue and the Minilogue
Introduced at the Winter NAMM show in 2019, the Korg Minilogue XD combines analogue and digital synthesis in a compact desktop design. Its analogue counterpart, the Korg Minilogue, even won the Red Dot Award for Design in 2017 and has been used by well-known artists such as Jimmy Edgar and Richard Devine. Combining the key features of Korg's flagship Prologue model in a smaller, more versatile chassis, the polyphonic Minilogue XD also offers extras such as digital effects, micro-tuning, and an oscilloscope – a feature not present on the original Minilogue. The included software allows users to create their own waveforms, enabling the sound to be tailored to individual preferences. Overall, the black Minilogue XD thus represents an enhanced fusion of the Prologue and Minilogue.

A wide range of oscillators for a variety of sounds
The Minilogue XD is equipped with two oscillators offering square, triangle, and sawtooth waveforms, modulated via cross-modulation and ring modulation, with each oscillator being individually tunable. The SHAPE control allows users to adjust the waveform complexity or the pulse width of the square wave, while the Minilogue's Multi-Engine features a noise generator and the ability to create VPM-based FM sounds. The included Software Development Kit offers even greater flexibility, allowing users to create their own waveforms on a computer. The Minilogue features four voicing modes – Poly, Unison, Chord, and ARP – with the ARP mode generating arpeggios that can be played with up to four voices.

A treasure trove for experimenters
The Korg Minilogue XD features a built-in memory system with 200 presets, as well as 300 additional user presets. A 16-step sequencer enables the flexible creation of patterns, and the internal digital effects section, taken from the Prologue, adds the finishing touch to the sound. Replacing the conventional pitch bend and modulation wheels, a joystick enables simultaneous control of both effects, with a damper/sustain pedal available for connection to add even greater expressiveness. Featuring Sync, MIDI In, and MIDI Out connections, the synthesizer offers straightforward integration with external devices and opens up virtually limitless possibilities for creative sound design.

About Korg
For many years, the Korg brand has been synonymous with innovative synthesizers, workstations, keyboards, digital pianos, and more. With instruments such as the MS20, Polysix, Wavestation, KRONOS, and the Volca series (to name but a few), the Japanese company founded by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai in 1963 has created legendary synthesizers whose names are music to the ears of many keyboard players. Excellent sounds at the touch of a button
Easy to connect, switch on, and play, the Korg Minilogue XD offers a wealth of opportunities for experimentation, complemented by pre-programmed presets to make finding the perfect sound quick and easy. Korg's Sound Librarian software allows sounds created using the Software Development Kit to be transferred from a computer to the Minilogue XD via USB, while compatibility with additional software developed by third-party creators, such as Sinevibes, enables even further expansion. Live keyboardists and sound enthusiasts will appreciate the Korg Minilogue XD as an expressive musical instrument that is robustly built, thanks to its aluminium housing with a real wood back panel.
