With the 26200 Elegance, the renowned German manufacturer K&M has created an easy‑to‑handle microphone stand designed especially for vocalists. Its one‑handed mechanism allows the height of any attached microphone to be adjusted quickly and silently, up to a maximum of 1.735 m. The round base, fitted with a rubber profile ring, not only ensures stability but also provides effective damping against footfall noise. The combination of lightweight aluminium tubing and this sturdy steel round base gives the 26200 Elegance the durability needed to hold up reliably on stage and during transport from show to show. Unlike K&M's Topline series, the Elegance uses unique trilobular – i.e., a rounded triangle – tubes, which play an important role in the stand's style and ergonomics. This design concept, together with the silent one‑hand adjustability, received the Red Dot Design Award almost immediately after market launch in 2012.
The key feature of the K&M 26200 Elegance is its slim, completely silent one‑hand height adjustment mechanism. Using the lever integrated into the shaft, users can adjust the mic's height quickly and smoothly to anywhere between 1.055 and 1.735 m, even during a performance – without having to awkwardly twist a locking collar and without making unwanted noise on stage. For mounting a microphone, or microphone clip, the top end includes an integrated, captive knurled screw with a 3/8" thread, allowing precise alignment and secure fixing. The trilobular tubing of the Elegance actually contributes to its ergonomic: It not only gives the stand its distinctive, award‑winning appearance, but also offers a more tactile grip, making it more comfortable to carry and adjust.
Weighing just 3kg, the K&M 26200 Elegance is an unusually mobile round‑base stand that can be carried easily with one hand and repositioned discreetly, even mid-song. Despite this lightness, it's still impressively stable: The robust steel round base with its smoothly shaped plastic cover provides a secure footing, while the surrounding rubber rim effectively dampens unwanted footfall noise – even if the stand is accidentally shifted or moved back and forth during a particularly energetic performance. This gives the Elegance an ideal balance of mobility, stability, and quietness for vocal performers, the latter of which is not just the result of the ability to adjust the height silently.
Founded in 1949, König & Meyer (K&M) initially produced music stands and measuring tools. Just two years later, the range was expanded to include instrument stands and microphone tripods, which are still the core business of the manufacturer today – and are still manufactured in their facilities in Wertheim, Germany. K&M also produces musicians' stools, stands for speakers, monitors, and lighting, and a range of accessories for mobile devices, such as tablet mounts. To satisfy the company's own exacting standards, even the individual metal and plastic components continue to be manufactured primarily in the company's factory in Wertheim, with particular emphasis placed on environmentally friendly and sustainable production.
The K&M 26200 Elegance is suitable not only for miking a vocalist but also for instrumentalists such as a trumpet player, a saxophonist, or a violinist – anyone who needs a reliable mic stand that can be positioned flexibly. If required, an optional boom arm can be added to increase the distance to the sound source, providing extra freedom of movement without compromising the stand's stability. Thanks to its extendable tube, the Elegance can also be used for elevated sound sources – for example as an overhead (in combination with a second stand) on a drum kit, for AB miking a choir, or for capturing a set of stacked guitar amplifiers. For mobile use, the 26200 Elegance can be carried in the K&M 26019 carrying bag (sold separately), which holds up to three round‑base stands and offers comfortable transport with its padded handles and an adjustable shoulder strap.
